This site is a platform for sharing data in response to early warnings about increased food insecurity in the Sahel region of West Africa. The platform allows regional and international organizations to share and visualize their data describing the situation in the Sahel. By pulling together data sources into one site, the platform offers the ability to strengthen data sharing between partners and donors. A common operating picture is critical for a coordinated response, and this platform helps bring together critical datasets to inform the response. All datasets are offered in both raw data formats and processed map layers. Map layers are retrieved and integrated into the site using API calls from each partner. This allows the seamless data sharing between partners into a single site while keeping data ownership decentralized. Data and APIs are publicly available for download and use. All maps are powered by MapBox Hosting. This site is built using a public Github repository.

APMEN is an exciting new online information sharing platform dedicated to migration, environment and climate change issues in the Asia Pacific region. In a region with its share of natural disasters, where the impacts of climate change are clearly visible and people increasingly affected, APMEN fills a needed gap in bringing these issues to the forefront in one central location.

Learning from Megadisasters, a knowledge-sharing project sponsored by the Government of Japan and the World Bank, is collecting and analyzing information, data, and evaluations performed by academic and research institutions, nongovernmental organizations, government agencies, and the private sector-all with the objective of sharing Japan's knowledge on disaster risk management (DRM) and postdisaster reconstruction with countries vulnerable to disasters. The World Bank and the Japanese government hope that these findings will encourage countries to mainstream DRM in their development policies and planning

A unique GLobal IDEntifier number (GLIDE) is generated from the beginning of 2004, by an "Automatic GLIDE Generator" for all new disaster events.The components of a GLIDE number consist of two letters to identify the disaster type (e.g. EQ - earthquake); the year of the disaster; a six-digit, sequential disaster number; and the three-letter ISO code for country of occurrence.
