City Year Boston is an organization that focuses on intervention (3rd-9th grades) for those at risk of dropping out in the future whether related to attendance, behavioral issues, or falling behind/failing in school. This relates to this weeks reading because City Year works with the students through volunteers that see the importance in education even in struggling students. The civic engagement that takes place is tutoring in schools to help students get on track and gives them incentive to become successful in life. A goal of City Year is to transform the future that today's students will have to live in. The readings are about people working together towards change and that is the goal City Year implements.
