One of the readings this week discussed the lack of civic learning for a good portion of young adults. These students want civic education as a high school requirement, because they know that "civic engagement offers students a challenging, empowering, and authentic opportunity" in a time when many feel that they cannot make a difference.

Oregon lobbyists and advocates have continued their efforts in getting increased school funding for their schools. Their efforts are being noticed and this may create a chain-reaction for many other struggling school districts.
