One of the most encouraging and comforting things that a Christian needs to realise and constantly remember-particularly when he's going through times of trouble, trials and tribulations-is that our Heavenly Father LOVES us, and is in absolute and total control of our lives!-And that NOTHING can happen to us without HIS will or HIS permission! So even if WE don't always understand exactly why we're going through such trials, GOD knows what He's doing! He knows all the purposes and reasons behind every test, trial, affliction etc.

Though we can, and often do, suffer (poverty, war, alienation) for the sins of our ancestors, we are JUDGED for our own sins. We are not slaves to our History. We can make our own choices and we can choose righteousness that comes through faith in Jesus Christ.

One way the Lord makes us lie down is to use health problems, marriage problems, problems with our children, financial problems, career and professional problems and any other kind of problems we can imagine to teach us about the relationship which is the key to all the blessings…

Our afflictions are designed not to break us, but to bend us toward God.

They had no guarantee that they would survive the storm, BUT they could be absolutely sure that God controlled the storm and controlled their lives. They could be absolutely sure that as fierce as the storm raged, God's love for them raged even more fiercely. No storm could ever blow them out of God's mighty hand.
