In this day and age, where anyone with access to the internet can create a website, it is critical that we as educators teach our students how to evaluate web content. There are some great resources available for educating students on this matter, such as Kathy Schrock's Five W's of Website Evaluation or the University of Southern Maine's Checklist for Evaluating Websites.

Infographics are pretty popular. We share a lot of them on this site because they're an easy way to consume information. They're eye catching, the visuals tend to help people connect and remember the information, and they're easy to share with just about anyone, even non-experts in a field. They often boil down a lot of information into very manageable pieces, so for teachers, they're easy to check out and learn something quickly while browsing the internet during a lunch break or after school.

The Wayback Machine, a service used by millions to access 19 years of the Web's history, is about get an update.  When completed in 2017, the next generation Wayback Machine will have more and better webpages that are easier to find.

Sometimes you may want to embed just a portion of a YouTube video in your web pages. For instance, you are embedding a movie from YouTube but want the viewer to focus of one particular scene that begins at 'x' seconds and ends at 'y' seconds. When the scene has finished, the embedded clip should stop playing irrespective of the length of the video. Well, here are two simple ways to help you embed a part of any YouTube video:

Google Reader is shutting down in two days and it is therefore important that you migrate your existing RSS feed subscriptions elsewhere. There are quite a few Reader alternatives to choose from though I have finally picked Feedly as the new home for my beloved feeds.
