I agree with both Nick and Jillian. I feel that musical clips will definitely help add to our presentation, and that they will give an entertaining, yet helpful, example. I don't know too much about Chinese music, but I think that focusing on the instruments that play an integral role in creating the traditional chinese "sound" is an interesting focus. They seem to be so different from the instruments we are familiar with in traditional western music.

The importance of music in celebrations, festivals and religion also seems to be a large source of China's music history.

I like Jillian's final point on the impact of western music on modern chinese music, and how because of this influence there is controversy.

This website provides a condensed yet thorough explanation on the history of chinese music. It touches on the yin yang harmony that we learned about in class on friday. Pages 1 and 3 are definitely the most helpful.

We met this morning for a couple of ours to discuss chinese music. We also put together our presentation for tomorrow's class. We realize that we didn't all highlight and explain the significance of our links on diigo. However, this is because we were together and therefore discussing the videos and websites out loud with one another.

For my final project, I am interested on researching Western Medicine and its influence on the East. I hope to learn more about Western Medicine in general, its purposes, uses, advantage and disadvantages, how and why it has become increasingly popular in eastern society today.

So sorry, but I meant to say Eastern medicine and its influence on the west! I hope to learn more about Eastern Medicine, not western.
