Imagine YouTube's ease of sharing and watching videos, but in a secure, private environment made for content like internal corporate announcements, team member status updates, employee training materials and informal information-sharing. Videos can be easily shared with everyone in the company or with specific individuals.
You can create your own stories with the historic tale construction kit. It is like writing your very own comic strip. Can be sent as an e-card or submitted to the gallery, so other users are able to watch what you have done.
The Commons was launched on January 16 2008, when we released our pilot project in partnership with The Library of Congress. Both Flickr and the Library were overwhelmed by the positive response to the project! Thank you!
The program has two main objectives:
1. To increase access to publicly-held photography collections, and
2. To provide a way for the general public to contribute information and knowledge. (Then watch what happens when they do!)
Miro is the only internet TV you'll need - it's an application that brings together thousands of shows from all over the web. There's TONS of great content, lots of it in HD, and fresh shows are added all the time. You can watch and organize video feeds when you're offline or traveling, find TV programs on sites like Hulu, and download from sites like YouTube. Miro downloads in HD, whenever it's available!
What struck me immediately was the kind of work that the kids were doing. Again, I was caught in the thought, "Boy, do we ever underestimate what kids can do." Of course, this is not a school with NCLB requirements hanging over it, and that sure helps.
A provocative title about a very real world topic. Enjoy - and share with discretion (I can point you towards the blog about the Sunday School lesson built around this, if you need it). :-)
Relevant to anyone who works with people. A four-minute summary of Sutton's famous rule. A "free sample" from the 50 Lessons collection. Sutton's lesson is summarized elsewhere as asking: "How do you treat the person right in front of you right now"? Avoid hiring jerks; don't allow anti-social behavior; sometimes you can only get even ("Yes, he's going to LA, but his bags are going to Nairobi"). "Watch these webinars to hear directly from school administrators about how Google Apps has helped them save money and IT resources, plus made students' lives easier with a set of tools for working together."
This site was so cool. I created my own comic story. I was able to play brain buster games I read stories and had stories read to me, and watched videos about how to create a comic.. This site was created by Jim Davis, creator of the comic strip Garfield, in conjunction with Ball State University and PAWS, Inc. It give kids the opportunity to explore, create and connect safely with kids around the world. Jim Davis created this site because he felt there was a need to provide a high-quality, free, and engaging web site that could motivate children to achieve their full potential. The approach is kid-centric and tries to close the achievement gap between what kids seek to do on the Internet and standards-based educational activities. The mission of Professor Garfield.org is encourage children to explore academically sound literacy activities and provide them with tools to express themselves through creative writing prorams. It's an Internet destination that is safe, free and fun! The Professor Garfield and Sparktop sites (both found on this link) provide all kids of ways for kids to shine and showcase their talents and abilities! Students can record their own "talent" for Sparkstage (our American Idol-like competition), arrange music with the awesome music mixer tool, create their own comic strip in the Comis Lab, learn to sculpt, or be taught to draw by professional artists in the Art-Bot section.
On Sparktop.org kids safely connect with other kids who knwow what they are going through. They find information about how their brain works and get tips on how to succeed in school and life. And they get to showcase their creativity and be recognized for their strengths. Millions of children from around the world visit the web site every month.

Shared today on another list, this has some excellent, vintage footage from the NBC channel, Time Capsule. Note that you can advance to the next video in the bottom left corner. You may have to watch from home, but many are well worth it.
