Yodio offers an integrated, one-stop digital publishing service where anyone can go to self-record, produce, and share audio recordings (podcasts) and personal broadcasts (audio synchronized with digital photos).
Using Yodio's free production system, most anyone can combine digital photos with their recorded audio to create rich media presentations. What is a rich-media presentation? Think voice narrated power point presentations or photo albums. Now think of them being shared in a player similar to YouTube, so they can be streamed throughout the internet or the player can be embedded in other websites, blogs, etc. This is personal broadcast with the sharing part operating on steroids! You can link, e-mail, embed, and in many cases download as an MP3 file. It's made to share memories and photos that are made more interesting and informative by adding your own voice.
"SAS is NOT a portal. Although we will be using a new and powerful portal to access the six elements of SAS and all the resources that will be launched and will be added to the site, SAS is more about how we think and act differently. The six elements of SAS (clear standards, fair assessments, a curriculum framework, instructional strategies, materials & resources and interventions), when combined, provide educators with a common framework for the continuous improvement of each student by name. Research continues to support that integrating these six elements improves student achievement."
cool interactive guide to careers and colleges. It's obviously geared towards students in Virginia, but their Interest Assessment is one of the most engaging ones I've seen and would be a useful tool for any students exploring potential careers. I like that particular tool so much that I'm adding it to this list.
As funding becomes tighter and schools are looking for ways to save, switching to Google Apps for Education makes sense for many school districts. The decision is one that is often preceded by a lot of questions from school boards and school administrators.
To answer some of the more common questions like "are there ads on Google Apps for Education?" and "what about COPPA compliance?" Google has released a PDF addressing those common questions.

"With the advent of the World Wide Web and the huge amount of information that is contained there, students need to be able to critically evaluate a Web page for authenticity, applicability, authorship, bias, and usability. The ability to critically evaluate information is an important skill in this information age.
To help you get started with this process with your students, I have designed a series of evaluation surveys, one each at the elementary, middle, and secondary school levels. The elementary, middle, and secondary surveys have been re-designed and updated in February of 2009. The virtual tour, blog, podcast, and teacher site evaluations have been added since 2005 and updated in 2009."
From IU 1
Mara Linaberger says: At IU1 we do an induction workshop for year 2 teachers on Google Tools - its called "Growing with Google" (we keep adding new tools to the choices as we go and as they become available). Its run as small group inquiry and has web links out for each of the tools for teachers to self-train on the tools they choose. It is loosely a "web quest" - although there aren't specific questions to be answered, because the teachers identify their own questions/needs and take their learning from there.
Math is one of the easiest subjects to use well on an interactive whiteboard. The Internet is awash with SMART Board Math games, but not all are worth your time. The ones in this article have been tried and tested in my classroom, and are long standing favorites with my students. Some are Internet based, and some are SMART Notebook files for you to download, but all are great fun and will help bring added engagement to your Math lessons. The majority of these SMART Board Math games can be used in a K-6 environment, but many can be used beyond that.
