Anonymous and attacks on 'anti-wikileaks' sites - 4 views

BBC has a whole section based on the Wikileaks controversy, with several links to different concerns regarding the operation (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-11863274).
In this article:

there is an interview with one of the people involved in the attacks by Anonymous. As we've discussed, they attacked sites that have withdrawn their support of Wikileaks. The article mentions that Anonymous created 'a tool enabling computers to join the co-ordinated attacks against websites perceived to be "anti-Wikileaks" is now reported to have been downloaded more than 31,000 times'.
The ease with which people are able to sabotage big name companies is alarming. It would be interesting to take a look at what this software is that allows anyone to participate in this destabilization of websites especially with news that people as young as 16 have been involved in it and arrested. OpenLeaks, Wikileaks' successor - 8 views

One of Wikileaks' greatest source of controversy was that it became a platform from which some information that was detrimental to different organizations was published. Now Daniel Domscheit-Berg who was previously one of the leading analysts for Wikileaks has cofounded Openleaks that will serve as a site which will only relay the information to news outlets. Essentially this will be another way in which the media will be able to find current news. This demonstrates the manner in which the internet is adapting their approach to grabbing information.
Attached is the OpenLeaks website which has a short video about the differences between the sites and where Wikileaks fell short. Look on the about section to read about it. There is another tagged site that goes into their basic differences prior to it being set up.

one sees how websites are able to pull information from people after they leave the initial site. It would be interesting to investigate how this is allowed, how exactly it works and how one should prevent further information from being taken.
