It will take a few more years of testing and the requisite safety approvals before Ford's laser ignition system is put into a production model, but the company has indicated that they hope to have the system in some of their premium vehicles (they'll probably start on a Lincoln model) within a few years.

News out of Japan yesterday has confirmed that Toyota will be supplying their rival car maker Mazda with components to build hybrid cars. Mazda's hybrid line won't be launched until 2013, but the company is already planning a production volume of 100,000 vehicles per year.

The Hyundai Veloster Concept, which premiered at the Los Angeles Auto Show back in 2007, will provide the base for a new "Eco-Sport" car to be released in the 2011 or 2012 model year. Hyundai representatives say that about 70-80% of the concept's styling and architecture will be incorporated into the new model, which promises quick, nimble driving with 40+ mpg.
