The trucks, built to run off-road race courses in comfort prior to the events and act as chase vehicles, are built for reliability and suspension travel. Transitioning to daily use, pre-runner trucks offer comfort and drivability as well as off-road capabilities. When Ryan Reese of Spring, Texas, decided to build his '11 Ford F-150, his goal was to bring that pre-runner style and functionality to Texas, where most off-road trucks are of the mud bogger style.
