This paper praises on the idea of the benefits of the flipping classroom across disciplines (humanities, economics, sciences, etc.) This article can lead to think beyond those disciplines and to deepen into the already going research on this subject applied to World Languages.

      I love this idea of an interactive bulletin board! Plus, this could be used as an interpretive activity w/o bulletin board: students describes someone/thing and listener has to decide who/what it is and draw or identify what is said. These recordings could be used over several classes/years.

  • When asked to identify the benefits of the synchronous learning activities concerning the correction of errors, the participants point out that events and actions are unpredictable in the online lessons and the online interviews, which provide students with an opportunity to stretch their command of the language.

    I have always looked at and wondered about using VoiceThread but have never actually done it until I took this class. I'm happy that I finally used it and I'm thrilled to see all of the suggestions for World Language activities that people have shared.

    Same as Anne! I only new about VoiceThread when I started Carla17 online course. Thanks for sharing this information. We can continue learning about all the advantages of it: free, facilitates learning through authentic materials, different modalities of response: oral, written, video, doodle.

      Although this article is not specifically about teaching a world language class AND it is written by someone who is promoting a product (2 strkes against the article!), it does succinctly share 4 tools to improve the synchronous aspects of a course.

      The activity we did with FlipGrid at the beginning of the course was similar in purpose to doing an icebreaker activity in Zoom. Even though our small group interactions were asynchronous, having those visual interactions with FlipGrid and other tools helped make me feel more connected with my coursemates.
