Use your mouse or trackpad to input text in Gmail and Google Docs. Useful for practicing handwriting, especially in languages that do not use the Latin alphabet.

Used the online editor to crop videos from YouTube, KhanAcademy, and other sites. Then record audio directly in the browser, and add multiple-choice and open-ended questions at any points in the video. You can also add audio notes. Useful for flipping the classroom. Limitations: You can't upload your own videos to the site. However, you could upload them to YouTube, then access them through EDpuzzle.

Create Google Forms using drag-and-drop tools. Allows file uploads (that go to your Google Drive), multi-page forms, and greater control over submissions than normal Google forms.

Create a one-page webpage.

Create lessons for blended/hybrid or flipped classrooms. Add YouTube videos, text, images, and multiple-choice questions to create a lesson.

Create grids of questions that students respond to by recording videos of themselves.

Video Assistance for Understanding Language Teaching Techniques (VAULTT) is a collection of original videos highlighting various aspects of language teaching in the classroom. Each short video is accompanied by supplementary information (in a PDF) explaining the techniques and relating them to best practices in language teaching. Some of these videos are real classes, and some are staged. Although these materials are based on current research in second language acquisition, they are produced at a level accessible for teachers with little or no pedagogical training. We are still in the process of constructing this site, but your feedback is welcome!

Create multiple-choice quizzes, discussions, and surveys including images and videos. The intention is that students would use these in the classroom. Limitations: Because of the focus on the synchronous classroom and interactivity, a single student alone cannot take the quizzes.

Students can receive messages to their phones (SMS) or other messaging clients with multiple-choice questions. Limitations: Does not seem to support non-Latin characters.

English dictionary for kids with optional Spanish support. Includes audio pronunciations, part of speech, and inflections. Related: http://kids.wordsmyth.net/wild/ is a highly visual dictionary, where students can click through scenes and images to find the written and spoken forms of nouns.

Backchannel application that allows students to answer multiple choice questions and rate their confidence that they've understood. Teachers get access to all information in realtime. Limitations: Students have to sign up for an account.
