This is what it looks like and sounds like!!! Scenes from the Unquiet Library: Four Classes Researching, Learning, and Collaborating I'm always amazed by how beautifully classes co-exist in our learning space when we max out with four classes. I thought it would be fun this morning to capture a quick snapshot of what learning looks like at The Unquiet Library-moments like this are the happiest for me here in the library and validate the vision of a learning-centered library. "Create meaningful, annotated conversation around video. Use Vialogues to supplement face-to-face instruction or as the heart of an online learning experience. A vialogue (video + dialogue) puts you at the center of an immersive video-based discussion that includes time-coded, hyperlinked comments. Teachers can post comments, polls, and surveys to scaffold video content."

EdPuzzle allows you to add your voice and questions to educational videos. On EdPuzzle you can search for educational videos from Khan Academy and Learn Zillion. Once you've found a video you can insert your own voice comments. You can also create a series of questions to go along with your chosen video. Questions are inserted along a timeline that matches the video. That means that your students don't have to wait until the end of a video in order to answer the questions. EdPuzzle could be a good tool to use to create short review videos or flipped lessons for your students. You could also have students use EdPuzzle to annotate videos by pointing out important aspects of videos by using the voice comments option and or the question building option.

Using the commenting feature of Google Documents is a good way to create a record of classroom conversations about an article that you have shared with your students. Using the commenting feature is also a good way to have the conversation about an article occur entirely online. In the video below I give a demonstration of how to do this.

Here are the Top 100 Tools for Learning 2013 - the results of the 7th Annual Learning Tools Survey. The list was compiled by Jane Hart, Founder of the Centre for Learning & Performance Technologie from the votes of over 500 learning professionals worldwide. (Released 30 September 2013). "A learning tool is a tool for your own personal or professional learning or one you use for teaching or training." Here is a summary presentation of the Top 100 Tools and beneath it the text list. Click the name of the tool to find out more about it, its cost, availability, its past rankings and to read some of the comments from those who voted for it. You will find an analysis of this year's list here.

Huzzaz is a new site (still in private beta although you can request an invitation) for organizing and sharing collections of educational videos. You can create and share collections of educational videos. You can embed your collections of educational videos into your blog or website. The basic purpose of Huzzaz is to help you create and organize collections of videos. In your account you can make as many thematic collections as you like. To add a video from YouTube or Vimeo to your collections you can search within Huzzaz, use the Huzzaz browser bookmarklet, or copy and paste video URLs into your collections. Once you have some videos in a collection you can organize them by simply dragging and dropping them into a sequence. Your collections can be shared with others. Likewise, you can share individual videos. When you share an individual video from a Huzzaz collection you can host real-time discussions about it. To do this simply click the "comments" icon while the video is playing to open a live chat box. Applications for Education Teachers that are using the flipped classroom model could find Huzzaz to be an excellent tool for organizing the videos that they plan to share with students. Students may find Huzzaz's real-time chat feature to be useful for holding online review sessions that are based around the videos their teachers have shared with them.

The Smithsonian Tween Tribune is a free resource for teachers and students. It has a huge collection of articles written at various Lexile levels. The articles also come with a quiz to assess comprehension and students can post a comment about what they read.

Widbook is a platform designed to help people collaboratively create multimedia books. The service is part multimedia book authoring tool and part social network. Mashable called it "the YouTube of books." On Widbook you can create a digital book that contains text, images, and videos. Widbook is collaborative because you can invite others to make contributions to your books. To use Widbook you have to create a profile on the service. The books that you create become a part of your profile. If you allow it, other Widbook users can add content and or comments to your books. Likewise, you can search for others' books and make contributions to their books.

Active Textbook is an interesting service that you can use to turn your PDFs into multimedia documents. The basic idea behind the service is that you can upload PDFs and add pictures, links, and videos that are displayed when students read your PDF through the Active Textbook viewer. While reading your PDF through Active Textbook students can highlight, draw, and add comments to the document. Active Textbook could provide a good way to create your own short multimedia texts for students. The most compelling feature is the option for students to highlight and take notes on the document while they're reading it through Active Textbook. Active Textbook also adds a dictionary tool to your document which could be handy for some students. Active Textbook is free to use for up to 500 pages of material.

Like Pinterest, you download their toolbar which allows you to quickly capture content that you're looking at online.Then, you can add comments while they're still fresh in your head. Once you're done, you export your facts, citations, and notes to a word document to use later when writing a paper
