Best Interview Questions to Ensure Finding a Superstar Employee Are you tired of interviewing? When will the Superstars just walk into your office and sit down for an interview? Yes. It's difficult to find the right people to work for your company. How do you find the perfect match. They are superstars, but they are in the wrong galaxy? Ah! Should've seen it coming. Here are some great questions you can ask potential employees during an interview to make sure that they are exactly who you want to hire. Tell me about a time when someone gave you constructive criticism. How were you able to receive it? By asking this question, you will learn a little bit more about your interviewee. Do they handle constructive criticism and feedback? Do they work towards improving? Did they even hear the advice, or storm out in a rage? It is important to know how your potential employee receives feedback. You don't want to hire someone who thinks everything that she does is right. You want to hire someone who is teachable. Humble. Professional. Eager and willing to learn. Why do you want to work here? Okay. This one seems obvious. But still very important. You have a very specific person you want to hire. This person has the best skills. Great work culture. A positive attitude.Is teachable and ready to hit the ground running. Your position needs an employee who will meet these needs. Does your potential employee articulate his skills, his accomplishments, and how he would be a fit for your company? Are his skills right for the job? What is his motivation? What personality do you work best with and why? This question can be very enlightening. If your interviewee describes a person that sounds nothing like you….or anyone else in your company…you may want to take that into consideration. Emergencies happen. Sure. You can't control the accidents on I-5 freeway, or the bus drivers showing up late. But you can definitely be prepared. Commute to the site of your interview before the day of your interview. See how long it takes to get there. On the day of your interview, give yourself enough time to be there early, even IF unexpected circumstances arise. With all that said, if you are still running late, CALL the interviewer! It's common courtesy. And there is almost a zero-percent chance of getting called back if you are late AND don't call to let them know.
