Ground reference maneuvers commonly get taught at the very beginning of a students training just to be neglected later on as an "elementary" flight maneuver. However that is so far from the truth! Pilots at Renton Municipal Airport in Washington state took 170 women and girls on introductory flights Dec. 5, and the airport is now recognized by the Centennial of Licensed Women Pilots for introducing the most girls and women to flying in one day.

NVAA - Engine failure experience in IMC. This is the communications recording between the pilot of a Lancair Legacy N913MP and a Seattle Center controller. The Lancair experienced engine failure while on a flight from Redmond, OR to Boise, ID. Icing, engine failure complicates things. This is how it should be done!
