Why are there so few women pilots in America? In fact, only six-percent of those holding pilot certificates are female. Why is the number of women pilots so abysmally low? Thanks to research grant support partially provided by the Wolf Aviation Fund, some of the answers are to be found right here at "Teaching Women to Fly."

This crazy setup actually works really well. Here you can see him fly in formation with a team of wing walkers. It lasts an exhilarating three minutes.

Life on the Road as a Pilot: Scholarship Announcement from Girls With Wings - 0 views

  •
"I fly because every time I get in my airplane I am pushing myself to become a better version of myself. Flying requires you to be a good listener, detail-oriented, and build a value system which is constantly requiring you to evaluate your skill and accept constructive criticism from others. It has built faith in myself and has allowed me to listen to that voice inside which says this is a blast and shows me what I am capable of. I want to be that encourager of other girls and women who think that aviation is something that could be fun to be a part of but never give it a second thought."

BLUE ANGELS vs. BEARCATS Here's a little bit of Naval Aviation history in the making to share as we all celebrate 100 years. Gotta love the sound of the R-2800! The old vs. the new .... what a neat story and so well done... The Blue Angels have always been my all time favorites... These pilots have flying in their blood and it shows here. The 90 year old ex pilot......he's still at it and enjoying every moment even though he no longer flies these planes ... he is flying again thru the others.....and loving every second of it. The Bearcat has a max. speed of 455 mph The F-18 has a max. speed of 1,190 mph The Bearcat has a climb-rate of 6,370 ft/min The F-18 has a climb-rate of 50,000 ft/min The bearcat has a nominal weight of 8m pounds The F-18 has a nominal weight of 23m pounds

"One shining hope has emerged from three catastrophic months of war. That is the American Volunteer Group of fighter pilots, the so-called "Flying Tigers" of Burma and southeast China who paint the jaws of a shark on their Curtiss P-40's (above). Outnumbered often ten to one, they have so far shot down about 300 Jap planes, killed perhaps 800 Jap airmen. They have violently wrenched from the Jap Air Force control of the skies over Burma and southeast China. "
