Interesting post from Kath Murdoch: Today, as I listened to and watched the medical staff at work, I was reminded of the importance of stopping to closely examine ourselves professionally.   Taking time to reflect on our work is vital - but we need to be mindful of what it is we are looking for.    A planning/teaching team in healthy condition is a joy to be part of.  Conversely, unhealthy teams who have not taken time to be mindful and caring of what they do and how they work together can miss golden opportunities for both student learning AND professional growth.

Programming idea.

As a PYP ICT Facilitator, I wanted to make the learner Profile and Attitudes more connected to the use of Information and Communication Technology in the classroom.  To do this, I created posters, which are displayed in the computer lab at our Elementary campus.

Getting kids to really focus on what exactly they are searching for, and then be able to further distill idea into a few key specific search terms is a skill that we must teach students, and we have to do it over and over again. We never question the vital importance of teaching literacy, but we have to be mindful that there are many kinds of "literacies". An ever more important one that ALL teachers need to be aware of is digital literacy. I could go off in many directions on this, but for the purpose of this post I'm focusing strictly on the digital literacy of searching.

Does flipped learning mark a transformational change in the way instruction is delivered or is it just a mere replacement of teacher with digital media? This is one of the questions that has created  a lot of controversy among educators. I have read several articles on this topic and have found a huge abyss between how teachers view it. However, flipped learning or not, the use of technology in education should be elevated to the rank of " integration" and so instead of speaking of using technology in teaching which is but doing the same things via the medium of technology, we rather talk about technology integration which is more structured and systematic.

As we venture into the 21st century, we as a society, are faced with more innovation and challenge than ever before. We now live in an interconnected world, where the Internet and global communications are simultaneously uniting and isolating us as a society. How do we raise critical thinkers to best face the challenges that face our modern society? What changes in education methods should be implemented to  create a better learning environment for these budding minds?
