Good overview of Wheeling Elks long history in Elkdom. 130 years!! Sad to say, it is down to 200+ members and a shadow of its former self. Much the way the rest of the elks are fading away into obscurity.

Hard to believe how well this former Elks lodge is doing. GL really screwed up to lose this one.

Losing this lodge is a tremendous loss for the Elks and gives the Order quite a public black eye. Hopefully the remaining members of the Austin lodge can keep the facility. Even if they do win in court though it will be quite a struggle to regain the former membership, become financially stable and remain a viable non-profit for the long term. They will need it.} It is more than likely that they have struggled, they haven't given up, and in my opinion have shown all of us what a determined membership can accomplish. Kudos to former Austin lodge, now The High Road on Dawson.
