Now why would the leadership of any lodge sell their building without requesting permission from GL? And this is a lodge that is 115 years old? SMH
If true, that's just a perfect illustration how far this organization has fallen. We do not seem to be attracting people with business and administration abilities or if we do then they are not willing to take on leadership responsibilities.
This lodge apparently rents it's facilities to businesses who use it for commercial purposes. We have a few in our lodge who think that you can't do that. I aim to show that you can
This lodge was given the bowling equipment by a private operator who went out of business. It would be cool if they could find a way to make it work in their lodge. I wish our lodge had room for a bowling center. That's lots of fun.

Re: "Belt tightening hits Tacoma Elks Club" (TNT, 6-10).
My husband and I had dinner at the Elks Club during an open invitation to the public last year. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly, and the food and service were very good. We were considering joining the club and asked for an application.
One of the questions on the application was, "Do you believe in God?" We consider our personal beliefs to be a private matter. Truly, personal faith is no one else's business.
GoGirls in the Military! GoGirl Partners with Hopkins Elks to Send 250 GoGirl Devices to Troops in Southwest Asia
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Long days in the field with little alone time is something that female troops stationed overseas know well. They also know that it's nearly impossible to find a private, sanitary restroom while on the job. To empower female military members with on-the-go bathroom convenience, GoGirl by FemMed Inc. has teamed up with the Hopkins Elks Lodge in Hopkins, Minn., to donate 250 GoGirl devices to troops stationed in Southwest Asia.
"The female military members protecting our country overseas often are in situations where there isn't a real restroom for miles. Though not openly recognized as an issue, it truly is an inconvenience," said Sarah Dillon, president of GoGirl. "Working with the Hopkins Elks, we saw an opportunity to empower these women with restroom freedom and flexibility through GoGirl, and realized that donating 250 devices was the least that we could do to make their lives easier."
Early every Tuesday morning, members of the North Fort Myers Elks Lodge #2742 are busy getting ready for a weekly event. On that day, members of the Veterans Committee feed local homeless individuals and provide them with basics that improve their quality of life.
The award-winning Veterans Outreach Program has been recognized as one of the best in the country by the Elks organization. It is also a model for other lodges and organizations across the U.S., Veterans Administration officials said.
