It always amazes me how many bloggers insert unoptimized images in their posts. As a result thereof, their home page, which often contains a couple of posts, sometimes in full length, loads slow or not at all. I get many questions about the latter. Almost always the load time of a home page can be improved right away by optimizing the images. That requires some extra work though. And extra time. I visit a lot of blogs every day and am always coming across new ones with amazing designs. Last week we reported that Twitter has plans to press for funds at a $1 Billion valuation. This is now no longer a rumor with WSJ confirming the case. It was reported that "investors are valuing Twitter, which has yet to generate revenue or finalize its plans for making money, at about $1 billion. A person familiar with the deal said investors are applying a similar value to Twitter as that applied to Facebook…"

I have pretty substantial experience with search engines; and like you, use them everyday to find relevant content. I first heard about this new search engine called LeapFish a few months ago when I met Lena Shaw at the first Silicon Valley Tweetup. Leapfish is also sponsoring the upcoming Tweetup this Wednesday at the Hotel Valencia. What I dig about Leapfish is that you can pretty much find every piece of content related to any specific search query. You can search Google, Yahoo, MSN and it also aggregates the top news from the AP, Youtube videos, Twitter trending topics, weather, etc. on the home page. As usual, I did a search for "Michael Brito" and was delighted to see the common results I usually see when I Google myself; but also on the same page without any additional clicks I was able to see blog mentions, videos and images. It's definitely a time saver and it has a clean interface. What I would love to see and I am sure they are working on this as we speak is a the aggregation of twitter search, foursquare, Yelp and other social tools. Threaded discussion is an old technology. It's inspiring to think of new ways we can talk together at a distance that allow integration of both synchronous and asynchronous technology.
