Falling Objects Safety - 5 Ways to Protect your Employees - 0 views

  •
When working on construction sites or other places with high heights, one of the most dangerous situations is when someone drops something, or an item is accidently knocked off an edge. These items can get up a lot of speed, which can be devastating to anyone in the area below. For this reason, falling objects safety must always be taken extremely seriously. Many companies make the mistake of only focusing on the actions of the people on the ground. Having them wear hard hats when below a work area, for example. While this is important, it is not nearly enough. Another common mistake is assuming that the only people who are at risk are those who are directly under the worksite. The reality is, however, that a falling object that hits something on the way down can be sent flying in any direction, exposing people in the surrounding area to significant danger. Sadly, this is what happened at a New Jersey construction site. A worker was 50 stories up on a building when he accidently dropped his tape measure. It fell down, striking another piece of equipment before it hit a worker who was talking to someone in a truck some distance away. The individual was taken to the hospital, where he died from the injuries. You can read more about this sad story HERE. While terribly unfortunate, this event can show that if something as simple as a tape measure can become deadly when it is falling, imagine the dangers of objects like hammers or bricks or other large items. With this in mind, consider implementing the following five strategies to help improve the falling objects safety for your company. Many of these things can help make immediate improvements that may actually save someone's life.

Yield Anti Slip Floor Signs - Keeping workplaces Safe - Creative Safety - 0 views

  •
Caution signs and yield anti slip floor signs are used for alerting and reminding people in and around workplaces, walkways and related areas to exercise caution when walking in these places. These self adhesive vinyl signs are sub-surface printed. They are also laminated by a protective sheath. This protective layer is a non- slip vinyl surface having a rough and pebbled texture. This gives the sign extra durability against heavy foot traffic. The yield anti slip floor signs has a self-adhesive back with an easy-to-peel liner. Due to this, the sign can easily adhere to smooth, clean and moisture free surfaces. Often, workplaces do not allow signs to be placed on walls and ceilings. They are either inaccessible, or it is against the rules, due to safety issues. To solve this problem, floor signs and floor stands come in handy. Both these types of signs are very easy to use and are also portable and lightweight. Floor supervisors can move these around to get the necessary messages across to workers, visitors and guests.

A3 for Lean Implementation - Creative Safety - 0 views

  •
A3 image via Reliableplant.com Today, I was looking for a decent A3 problem-solving template for an engineering friend who was planning on implementing a lean program for his company, and I came across a helpful article on ReliablePlant.com by Larry Rubrick and a cool A3 powerpoint presentation at PowerShow.com (don't hit download, just hit play). As many people may know, the A3 format originated around the type of paper (A3, 11″x17″ sheet) that the Toyota Production System engineers used to base their problem-solving templates - with the mindset that using only one piece of paper kept the thinking process focused and simple. The A3 is said to be one of the main building blocks of Lean thinking. On the report, a problem is identified and then it follows a process of successive stages (including objectives or goals) by which it may be solved, or at least lessened. I liked the examples Rubrick offers in his post, starting with the requisite Toyota A3, and moving on to others, including an A3 at Ford in the United States (which is meant for a typical copy paper size, 8.5 X11). Other A3s can end up getting more illustrative, but the gist of it is best represented in the simplicity of the TPS template, I think.

Improvement: Make a Win-Win Situation for Both the Business and it's Employees - Creati... - 0 views

  •
In the business world, there is a constant need and desire for improvement. It doesn't matter whether a business specializes in the market of rare auto parts or in making the best enchiladas. The plain and simple truth is that improving business practices to meet the ever-changing and diverse needs of society is essential to the success of any business endeavor. However, with all this change and improvement often comes a little struggle. Sometimes business processes are changed so radically that employees struggle with the changes if they are not adequately informed about what changes are taking place or how the changes actually benefit the specific process or end product. Furthermore, in some cases the problem is not with the employees at all, but instead embedded within the actual process changes. When looking into making improvement changes, it is important to really take the time to evaluate the changes fully to make sure that they are win-win for both the employees and the desired business objectives. Employee Involvement In the improvement process, there are often many things to consider especially such as metrics, data, resources, etc. However, it is important to make sure that employees are also considered within the grand scheme of things. There are times when businesses make essential changes that are needed to stay current with the changing times, but often neglect to involve the actual employees in the process of determining changes, or in the reasoning why specific changes were made. This can leave employees feeling a bit resentful and also leave processes lacking in certain important fundamentals. For instance, the top managers in a business make the decision to improve a production line within the factory because many of the machines were getting older and not handling the work as effectively as needed. In order to update the production line to new standards, new machines were installed and tweaks were made to previous processes in order to help

Pipe Marking - Top 10 Best Practices - 0 views

  •
The piping in many facilities can get quite elaborate, with different pipes going in virtually every direction. The fact that each pipe is used to transport different solutions, makes it is absolutely essential that you follow pipe marking best practices in order to keep everyone safe. It is not enough to simply have the pipe labeled right at the spout or faucet, though that is certainly a good start. You also need to make sure the rest of the pipe is clearly labeled so that people who are performing maintenance or other work on them will not have any issues knowing exactly what is contained within the pipes. With that in mind, take some time to review the following 10 best practices for pipe marking, and double check to make sure your facility is up to speed. 10 Best Practices for Pipe Marking Best Practice #1 - High Quality Labels Labeling pipes is not an easy task. In most cases, these pipes are located quite high in the facility, so working on them comes with its own set of hazards. In addition, it can be time consuming and disruptive since you will need to use a ladder or lift to gain access to all the pipes. With this in mind, you always need to make sure you are labeling your pipes with the highest quality label stock possible. Vinyl labels, for example, will stick well to the pipes and can last for years. If you are labeling a pipe that carries steam or hot liquids, you will want to make sure to choose pipe marking labels that are specifically designed for high temperature. When you use the highest quality labels, you won't have to replace them again for many years, which can help keep your facility safe and running smoothly. Best Practice #2 - Standard Color Labels It is always a good idea to follow the industry established guidelines for the color of the labels you use. ANSI has a color scheme that is largely used across all industries, which effectively makes it a best practice. Even if you are not legally required to follow this set of standa

Plant Derived Minerals, rather than rock-based minerals. Humans were not intended to eat rocks whether crushed or whole! The only way we can readily absorb minerals is after plants have uptaken the rock minerals from the soil and through photosynthesis converted those minerals into many times smaller particles that easily pass through the human cellular structure. These Plant Derived Minerals used in Tangy Tangerine and OsteoFX are typically around 98% absorbable whereas rock-based minerals are at best about 8% absorbable. If you're considering product cost you would have to factor in the cost of 92 cents of every dollar you spend on supplements with rock-based minerals are being flushed down your toilet bowl. The 5 Best Streaming Sites to Listen to Classical Music - 0 views

  •
Introduction It's the end of the day. You get home from work, sit down on your couch, and begin to relax. In this process, you may turn to music as a way to help you relax and forget the stresses of daily life. The best kind of music for this? Classical instrumental music, of course! But there's one small problem: how do you find classical music? After all, classical music isn't as popular as pop, hip hop, and rock, making it semi-difficult to find classical music, especially if your taste involves more obscure pieces. The journey to find such pieces can be difficult, which is why I want to help you by telling you the best sites and streaming services to find-and listen to-classical music. So, without further ado, let's jump right into it! The 5 Best Sites for Classical Music YouTube What kind of list would this be if I neglected to mention one of, if not the most popular website in the world, YouTube. Ever since it's inception in 2005, the site's displayed steady growth, allowing billions of people to find enjoyment and joy on the Internet. And with YouTube being one of the biggest sites in the world, it only makes sense to have a section of the website dedicated to music. This section, aptly named YouTube Music, contains any kind of music for any kind of listener. This includes classic instrumental music. Trust me when I say, there is plenty of classical music for you to listen to, from the most popular composers to the more obscure composers. Spotify Next up, we have Spotify, a titan of the streaming industry. While Spotify doesn't allow the streaming of videos, no service besides Apple Music can compete with its catalog of music, including classical instrumental music. Spotify is especially great for people who like all kinds of genres, and its cheap subscription price gives little reason to not at least consider using the service. As a matter of fact, I think there's a free monthly trial. Wouldn't hurt to give it a spin! Only thing that may give you trou
