Fraud Warning: Safety Tips on Purchasing Camping Gears - 0 views

  •
Planning a camping adventure for first timers can be very frustrating at first. You maybe unsure as to what you should bring along with you and if you have the rights tools. Although a camping vacation can be fun and exciting, it can sometimes be stressful to plan. But don't worry, like they say the first time is always the hardest. And again don't worry because it is not as hard as you think. When it comes to camping you will have to bring multiple items with you because you will be in the wilderness and convenience will be provided for you rather you must bring it with you. It is your first time so what you need to know is how to purchase the right tools and how to avoid fraud while buying. These are your fraud warnings and safety tips: Meeting the buyer- whether you're going to meet up or the buyer would go to your place make sure that you have someone with you. Never go alone or never allow him inside your house alone. Meeting the seller- same goes in meeting the seller. It is best if you meet them at their home addresses where the item for sale is placed. At least no matter what happens you know where the seller is situated. Accepting and paying money- if the item is worth only a few bucks then it is easier and more convenient to pay in cash but if it involves larger amount of money it is safer to carry a check rather than cash. Purchasing online- Only buy from a legitimate site, research information about the site first and read reviews about it. Also you can ask friends who bought items online and go for the same site. If the advertiser wants you to send cash up front you shouldn't do it. Remember not to sent cash or cheques through the post, or place money directly into a seller's bank account, in advance of receiving goods. Ask for the warranty or receipt of the product- once you bought an item from a private seller you will have no legal comeback if it turns out to be faulty so better check it thoroughly before handling the mo

Charges in $1-million green-energy scam | Toronto & GTA | News | Toronto Sun - 0 views

  •
"TORONTO - A Scarborough man is accused of bilking investors out of $1 million with a green energy-scam. Durham Regional Police claim the accused set up a company called Saunders Power Inc. on Wellington St. in Bowmanville, which he used to defraud 10 individuals and businesses between December 2009 and March 2012. "The company was geared at manufacturing cork-screw style wind turbines capable of producing energy that could be sold back to the Ontario Power Authority for a lucrative profit," police said Friday. "The accused allegedly produced forged documents and a fake licence to make the business appear legitimate." One of the investors became suspicious and contacted police in January, which prompted an investigation. Gregory Saunders was arrested at his home on Tuesday. The 56-year-old is charged with fraud over $5,000 and forgery. Anyone with new information regarding this investigation should contact the Fraud Unit at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 5353, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477)."

Black Hawk Adventures: Scientist Arrested for Selling Research Data to China - Liveleak... - 0 views

A former nanotechnology scientist of Sandia National Laboratories pleaded not guilty to federal charges of selling intellectual property and research to institutes in China. Jianyu Huang was arraigned last week on 1 count of false statements and 5 counts of federal program fraud as he was accused of sharing information from his post in the Sandia lab's Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies since 2009. However, the charge was only for theft of federal property and was not for stolen classified information. He reportedly sold research on nanotech that belongs to the US to government-run Chinese schools like Harbin Institute of Technology and Peking University, claiming them as his own. The indictment accuses Huang of selling USD 25,000 worth of "materials, equipment, time and work product of the company staff along with intangible property" between 2009 and 2012, on 5 different instances.

"Blackhawk Mines B06N | Black Hawk Adventures : Olympic-quality sports gear for all   http://latest.blackhawk-mines.com/2012/09/04/black-hawk-adventures-olympic-quality-sports-gear-for-all/  In the wake of the Olympics fever, people across the world had a glimpse of sophisticated and high-end sports gear used by athletes in their games. Not surprisingly, they are using top-of-the-line gears and equipment to help them perform at their best. And thanks to such an elite market, the advanced and highly-improved gears are made available to the public as consumer products. The technology used to develop gears in professional sports are now adopted by legit manufacturers in improved sports gear for amateurs, minus the fraud alert. Sleek bicycles in word-class events are mainly from carbon fiber-reinforced plastic known for its durability, strength and lightness. This particular material is now available in high-performance bicycles - from rims, seat posts, handlebars, stems and cranks. As for helmets, they are also becoming more advanced in terms of design and composition. Originally, helmets are made from leather, effective in protecting it from abrasions. Today, helmets being used in competitions are sometimes with built-in goggles and a wraparound design so that cyclists will have more convenience while having the optimum protection. Likewise, consumer helmets for skateboarding, football and skiing are created with hard aerodynamic plastic shells that are highly resistant to puncture and have shock-absorbers. Separate visors or ultra-lightweight goggles made from polycarbonate plastic (like bulletproof glass) are also popular. Bodysuits worn by track and field players of the US has now become part of a popular trend in recycled-materials-turned-fabric. Looks like many of our athletes and outdoor lovers are highly concerned about the impact they are making on the environment; good thing sports equipment firms have quickly responded to the market. • Latest Updates on BlackHawk Mines Music Black Hawk Mines : Davy Jones of Monkees dead at 66 The past few months have been a particularly tough time for the music industry as the death of The Monkees’ lead singer came after those of Etta James and Whitney Houston. Davy Jones, 66, died after a heart attack while in his stable in Florida on the morning of February 29. He was found in his car suffering from chest pains and was promptly rushed to a hospital in Stuart. However, he was pronounced dead due to severe heart attack. His sudden death has a considerably strong impact for someone that belongs in a band that has almost never gotten any musical respect in the industry. Jones first gained the public’s attention as an actor where he was even nominated for a Tony award for his part on the Broadway in Oliver!. Afterwards, and on the same time that The Beatles are gaining popularity, he became part of a singing group that has their weekly sitcom called The Monkees. The funeral in Florida is expected to be private but there will be public services in England and New York to honor Jones. The singer’s death seems to hit many people so hard, even those who are not claiming to be a fan, perhaps owing to the Monkees’ influencing generations. The height of their career came in the 60s but reruns of their show were aired in the 70s. Jones propelled to popularity during the 60s as The Monkees TV show became a household name. Though the series only lasted for 2 years and the band eventually broke up, they have left chart-topping hits such as “Daydream Believer” and “Im a Believer”. At 18 years old, Jones had his first performance in The Ed Sullivan Show where he sang his piece from Oliver!. Incidentally, that same night The Beatles also performed for the first time in the show.
