The Delhi Auto Expo 2016 is said to be the biggest of ever since its inception. This year it is all set to witness a record number of product launches. As reported by the economic times the event will feature 85 new passenger vehicles, utility vehicles, two-wheelers and commercial vehicles waiting to be introduced which will be fifth more than the last edition.

From April'2017, car, motorcycle and health insurance is going to get costlier, as the insurance regulator IRDAI is going to give "go-ahead" to insurers for revision in commission for agents. The IRDAI (Payment of Commission or Remuneration or Reward to Insurance Agents and Insurance Intermediaries) Regulations, 2016 will hike premium rates by as much as 40% for 2016-17 which will come into effect from 1st April'2017. For cars below 1,000cc the premium has raised by 40% to Rs 2,055, while for compact or B segment cars (1,000-1,500cc) the increase is 40% to Rs 2,237 & for sedans, the regulator has increased it by 25%.

The two wheeler industry from FY 2014-15 is fluctuating, where the sales of motorcycles have been down while the scooter segment has shown good improvement. Mahindra, who is riding high with the success of its XUV500 & TUV300 is all set launch its all new model in the two wheeler section named the 'Gusto 125'. As per the early information the scooter will premiere during the Auto Expo in February 2016. The all new Gusto will have features like seat height adjustment, the key fob with remote control, large diameter of wheels with some visible & bold design changes. GST (Goods & Services Tax) Law which is to be implemented in India by July'1, was made public in November 2016. GST provides for maximum rate of tax under the new regime i.e. at 14 per cent (14 per cent central GST and an equal state GST, taking the total to 28 per cent). The peak tax rate will rise up to 20 per cent, from the current 14 per cent, in the model goods and services tax Bill, which will preclude the requirement of approaching Parliament for any change in rates in future. The change in the peak rate, under GST bill will not tinker the 4-slab rate structure of 5, 12, 18 and 28 per cent agreed upon last year, GST council has only kept the upper cap higher at 20% so that in future in case of need of hike tax rate, there is no need to approach Parliament for a nod and the GST Council can raise it itself.
