Confusing interface, very cluttered. Art Snacks site might be useful but you have to join and give specific information before looking at the site to decide whether it would be beneficial - needs a preview. So, not a chance! You'll need to spend quite a bit of time and energy digging through the site. Parts are definitely valuable.

PART ONE: A Detailed Look at the Paraprofessional Job-Embedded Curriculum, and a GIVEAW... - 6 views

  • My last post introduced you to this valuable curriculum resource. As I said in that post, the timing of taking a closer look at paraprofessional staff development is purposeful at this point of the year. When reviewing IEPs and writing new ones for next year, we look forward to how students will be supported within general education successfully. Paraprofessionals are a piece of that puzzle that cannot and should not be overlooked or under-acknowledged. I do not believe everyone needs a paraprofessional to be successful in general education classrooms and settings, but when individual needs warrant it, then those paraprofessionals must be trained to do their jobs well.

Differentiation Meets Digital Technology « literacy beat - 6 views

  •
Differentiating instruction is a time-tested way of thinking about meeting students' needs as they make progress toward achievement or learning targets.  Differentiation is an elegant mindset that suggests to teachers a framework that permits them to engage students while focusing on learning results, and digital technologies offer many opportunities to differentiate instruction in meaningful ways.  However, differentiating instruction takes a concerted planning effort on our parts as teachers and teacher educators. This is especially so as we develop a mindset that differentiation can be effective. In this post, I propose a three-phase approach to planning differentiated instruction: Where do we start planning for differentiated instruction with technology, What are considerations for who we teach, what we teach, and how we plan? How do I put it all together?

OneVoice turns the iPad or iPhone into an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) device. Building on the simplicity of iOS devices, OneVoice is easy to understand, and designed for usability above everything else. Features include: - 4 High Quality Voices (Not included in the lite version) - Over 100 custom made icons - Drag and drop organization of phrases and categories - Choose and crop your own photos from the device photo gallery or your camera. - Simple, focused application. ""Use your words," I hear a parent tell their child... This augmentative assisted communication tool (AAC) helps children talk about their feelings and behaviour. Calm talk also helps children practice self-calming strategies through a variety of activities. All children can benefit from this app, including those who have ASD, ADD/ADHD, speech and language impairments and intellectual impairments. Developing children's emotional intelligence is fundamental for life. Calm Talk was developed by an Educational Therapist who needed a tool to help children with social and behavioural difficulties."
