ISPA is a not-for-profit international organization (founded 1949) of over 600 executives and directors of concert and performance halls, festivals, performing companies, and artist competitions; government cultural officials; artists' managers; and other interested parties with a professional involvement in the performing arts from more than 50 countries in every region of the world, and in every arts discipline.\n\nThe purpose of ISPA is to develop, nurture, energize and educate an international network of arts leaders and professionals who are dedicated to advancing the field of the performing arts.

The Artful Manager seeks a new set of metaphors for the administrative leaders of arts and culture. There is a need for business thinking, to be sure, with an intensity and deftness we have only begun to understand. But there is also an energy beyond money and markets that the artful manager must channel. What if, in the end, the arts organization is not a problem to be managed, but an instrument to be played?

'they're a tribute to where you are, what you're making, doing, eating, loving and living.' says the designers, 'it's a local project - built for our neighbors… made only greater in its relation to another person, another place - a spread known as the fifty united plates.' using a combination of new technologies with traditional ceramic processes, each piece highlights the persona of the maker. digital files of the states are created with the information needed to effectively cut a prototype on a CNC router. liquid ceramic slip is then poured into a plaster mold - fired in an electric kiln, the casting is finished by hand and sanded to be buttery smooth. every state has approximately 40-55 square inches of interior space and they range from 11-13" at the longest dimension.

The Westboro Home in Ontario is a residential project designed by Kariouk Associates. The house responds to the needs of the clients. They wanted a bright and lively home, yet intimate (with a sense of privacy). The house displays an interesting exterior (half black, half white), large windows and a garden filled with ornamental plantings. "The garden takes a "bite" out of the tight, permissible building area, however it allowed for an extensive amount of glass that otherwise, due to restrictive building code requirements, would not be possible. The courtyard's lot-line side remains open, while its three interior sides are filled with windows and bring natural light into the heart of the home on both living floors."

The EU gives culture an important place in development cooperation by: * systematically integrating the cultural aspect in all its policies, projects and programmes, * funding the preservation of cultural heritage and the emergence of viable cultural industries, * covering living culture and cultural heritage - both important for growth, jobs and cultural identity, * encouraging its partners to include culture in their own poverty reduction strategies and national development plans. Unlike other donors, the EC gives priority to promoting and supporting its partners' culture rather than focusing on the promotion of its own culture.

African Theatre and Performance WG will work to further the understanding and appreciation of African Theatre and Performance by facilitating and maintaining scholarly discourse and collaborative research in the fields of African theatre and performance.

This new programme offers a composite coverage of the socio-historical contexts and philosophical bases of drama, performance and theatre practices and traditions in Africa. The programme will involve you in a study of indigenous performance and theatre practices, colonial and postcolonial literary drama and theatre, popular performances, theatre-for-development, television drama, and video drama/movie.

The Congress on Research in Dance (CORD) provides opportunities for dance professionals from a broad range of specialties to exchange ideas, resources, and methodologies through publication, international and regional conferences, and workshops. We encourage research in all aspects of dance and related fields and promote the accessibility of research materials.
