The BIRD Internet Routing Daemon Project - 1 views

  •
"Internet Routing: It's a program (well, a daemon, as you are going to discover in a moment) which works as a dynamic router in an Internet type network (that is, in a network running either the IPv4 or the IPv6 protocol). Routers are devices which forward packets between interconnected networks in order to allow hosts not connected directly to the same local area network to communicate with each other. They also communicate with the other routers in the Internet to discover the topology of the network which allows them to find optimal (in terms of some metric) rules for forwarding of packets (which are called routing tables) and to adapt themselves to the changing conditions such as outages of network links, building of new connections and so on. Most of these routers are costly dedicated devices running obscure firmware which is hard to configure and not open to any changes (on the other hand, their special hardware design allows them to keep up with lots of high-speed network interfaces, better than general-purpose computer does). Fortunately, most operating systems of the UNIX family allow an ordinary computer to act as a router and forward packets belonging to the other hosts, but only according to a statically configured table."

Docker Acquires SDN Technology Startup SocketPlane.io - The New Stack - 1 views

  •
"In an indication of how rapidly the containerized technology ecosystem is metastasizing, SocketPlane.io - a startup venture founded just last October with the goal of building a controller-less software-defined network model for Docker environments - is being acquired by Docker, Inc., the two organizations jointly announced Wednesday morning. SocketPlane creates a networking abstraction for Docker containers at the socket layer. It connects containers without the need for a network controller, either physical or virtual. Put another way, it facilitates a software-defined network by letting the containers be the network."

FreeIPA - 0 views

  •
"FreeIPA is an integrated security information management solution combining Linux (Fedora), 389 Directory Server, MIT Kerberos, NTP, DNS, Dogtag (Certificate System). It consists of a web interface and command-line administration tools. FreeIPA is an integrated Identity and Authentication solution for Linux/UNIX networked environments. A FreeIPA server provides centralized authentication, authorization and account information by storing data about user, groups, hosts and other objects necessary to manage the security aspects of a network of computers. FreeIPA is built on top of well known Open Source components and standard protocols with a very strong focus on ease of management and automation of installation and configuration tasks. Multiple FreeIPA servers can easily be configured in a FreeIPA Domain in order to provide redundancy and scalability. The 389 Directory Server is the main data store and provides a full multi-master LDAPv3 directory infrastructure. Single-Sign-on authentication is provided via the MIT Kerberos KDC. Authentication capabilities are augmented by an integrated Certificate Authority based on the Dogtag project. Optionally Domain Names can be managed using the integrated ISC Bind server. Security aspects related to access control, delegation of administration tasks and other network administration tasks can be fully centralized and managed via the Web UI or the ipa Command Line tool."

ss: Display Linux TCP / UDP Network and Socket Information - 0 views

  •
The ss command is used to show socket statistics. It can display stats for PACKET sockets, TCP sockets, UDP sockets, DCCP sockets, RAW sockets, Unix domain sockets, and much more. It allows showing information similar to netstat command. It can display more TCP and state information than other tools. It is a new, incredibly useful and faster (as compare to netstat) tool for tracking TCP connections and sockets. SS can provide information about: All TCP sockets. All UDP sockets. All established ssh / ftp / http / https connections. All local processes connected to X server. Filtering by state (such as connected, synchronized, SYN-RECV, SYN-SENT,TIME-WAIT), addresses and ports. All the tcp sockets in state FIN-WAIT-1 and much more. Most Linux distributions are shipped with ss and many monitoring tools. Being familiar with this tool helps enhance your understand of what's going on in the system sockets and helps you find the possible causes of a performance problem.

Silverpeas Project Web Site - Introduction - 0 views

  •
"Silverpeas is an Open-Source Collaborative and Social Web Portal mainly used by our users to build an Intranet or an Extranet. The key words of Silverpeas are collaboration and social network. Atop of a collaborative bus and a social network engine, about 30 ready to use applications are freely available to share documents (EDM Electronic Document Management), to streamline project management, to manage content (CMS), and to optimize the management of knowledge and skills. Among the ready to use applications, you can find: EDM, Pictures Gallery, directories, calendars, workflow, forms, blog, wiki, forums, project management, and so on. It offers also a non-technical mechanism of delegation of rights and a powerful transverse taxonomy mechanism, that is coupled with the search engine, enable users to find rapidly the information they are looking for."

Hama - a general BSP framework on top of Hadoop - 0 views

  •
"Apache Hama is a pure BSP (Bulk Synchronous Parallel) computing framework on top of HDFS (Hadoop Distributed File System) for massive scientific computations such as matrix, graph and network algorithms. Today, many practical data processing applications require a more flexible programming abstraction model that is compatible to run on highly scalable and massive data systems (e.g., HDFS, HBase, etc). A message passing paradigm beyond Map-Reduce framework would increase its flexibility in its communication capability. Bulk Synchronous Parallel (BSP) model fills the bill appropriately. Some of its significant advantages over MapReduce and MPI are: * Supports message passing paradigm style of application development * Provides a flexible, simple, and easy-to-use small APIs * Enables to perform better than MPI for communication-intensive applications * Guarantees impossibility of deadlocks or collisions in the communication mechanisms"

Introduction - Terraform - 2 views

  •
"Terraform is a tool for building, changing, and versioning infrastructure safely and efficiently. Terraform can manage existing and popular service providers as well as custom in-house solutions. Configuration files describe to Terraform the components needed to run a single application or your entire datacenter. Terraform generates an execution plan describing what it will do to reach the desired state, and then executes it to build the described infrastructure. As the configuration changes, Terraform is able to determine what changed and create incremental execution plans which can be applied. The infrastructure Terraform can manage includes low-level components such as compute instances, storage, and networking, as well as high-level components such as DNS entries, SaaS features, etc."
