This activity has a fishing log that would be great with the 'goldfish' lab Susan showed us. Here is the link

The fishing log is on the last page.

We did the 'goldfish' activity in class on Friday and it was just as much fun as when we did it in the training! And the students seemed to 'get it' when their oceans ran out of fish!

I am going to follow up on the concept of sustainability with a simulation called Marine Reserves and Local Fisheries (for PC) located here http://ncep.amnh.org/marine_simulation/ which goes into more depth and has the students record some data, answers a few questions, and test how setting up a Marine reserve effects the fish population. There is a complete teacher's guide and all you have to do is register to get it.

I extracted the data tables and made room for the students to answer the questions. It is on my website at http://www.sanjuan.edu/webpages/jdibble/index.cfm?subpage=163546 as lab_worksheet_student

I will let you know if it works out.
