On the Hawaiian island of Kauai, rose-ringed parakeets, which are often kept as pets, have bred in the wild, destroying farms and bothering residents. They may also be threatening native plants. PBS NewsHour Weekend's Megan Thompson reports on local efforts to battle the invasive birds. Good 'cane Toad' like parallels.

Clue into Climate: A Digital Media-Based Curriculum Unit on Climate Change was created with input from San Francisco Bay Area teachers and advisors. The curriculum unit is comprised of four content strands, each of which includes 5-7 media resources related to the strand topic. Each strand also contains a strand guide and assessment, a background article and 4-5 lesson plans that provide information and activities to support the use of the media with students. Additionally, the curriculum unit provides a student workbook and a climate education resource guide.

Produced by Ken Burns, I watched all six episodes. They are inspiring, and although the episodes are not in their entirety, there are dozens of short clips with lessons written for each. When our students get politically aware, I'd like them to have an understanding of what a treasure national parks are; and the need to protect them.
