      I found it interesting that Maria Cruz was able to switch from beaming a doctor to become person who studied the environment and the effect it has on people. Also it was cool that she was able to use what she learned in medical school and apply it to her new course of study.

      This relates to what we are studying in class because the maquiladoras are working for very low incomes. This is not very much but it is a site factor for the United States. They would rather transport materials across the border and have cheap labor. The problem is that the people that work in the factories are in very bad conditions and have to ban to gather to form unions to get better labor conditions.

      This relates to cultural landscape because the humans are modifying the landscape with the shrimp. There is pollution which modifies the environment and people are working to overcome this pollution and keep their families safe.

    When looking at the map, I noticed that the United States has the most cities with one million or more foreign born residents. This makes sense because many people come to the United States for better opportunities. The US has job opportunities and good education. In Europe, there are only two cities with many foreign boron residents and I think that this is because London and Paris are two major cities and have many opportunities as well.

    This map makes sense because the most foreign born Mexicans are near the border. The most people are located right on the border between Texas and Mexico. There are also many people located up around California and farther in the interior of Texas. Once again this make sense because as immigrants come into the United States they will move farther into the state they entered in. I also noticed that there are many immigrants situated in Florida because this is a similar climate which makes the move less hard. Also there are jobs available.

      I found this very surprising. As first I believed, that women all over the country decided how many kids they want. Then as I read on, I realized that there are many factors to the amount of kids a women will have. First, many women in lesser developed countries are not very well educated. They do not have much knowledge about contraception, specifically birth control. Along with this idea, many women do not have access to birth control, either it is not available where they live, or it is too expensive for the family to afford. Finally, I realized from the video that we watched previously in class that sometimes due to the lack of education a woman has, they do not have a say  in the family planning. If the husband wants more kids than there will be more kids. All in all, I found this statistic very shocking and I took away that many people don't have the ability to stop having children which is very disappointing especially since most of the time, this occurs in poor areas and the family is struggling already.
