Two and a half years ago, China established it's "right" to exploit resources on the Spratly Islands, which belong to the Philippines. Now, China is actually trying to "reclaim" the islands, but the Philippines is disputing this action. As a result, a battle between the Philippines and China over these islands has been presented to the Court of Arbitration. All of this connects to the theme of nature-culture. Both the Philippines and China desire to take control of the natural resources found on these islands to benefit their respective countries economically. Unfortunately for the Philippines, this battle will be hard for them, since they are a much smaller nation than China. What tactics will the Philippines use to defeat China in court? If they lose the islands to China, what will the economic consequences be for the Philippines? What other countries may be affected by this situation and how?

Excellent connection to the nature-culture theme. Interesting questions as well. I'm now curious about the Court of Arbitration. I wonder how effective their rulings have been in the past.
