This site comes through Thinkfinity and this puts a music site out there for the group to check out. Thinkfinity looks like its rich resources will come in handy. When doing a music search on Thinkfinity, I typed in the key words music education and left all other drop down menus read ALL because it yielded better results for the music teacher as such. In a web 2.0 situation where I am working with a group, I can give multiple assignment choices to provoke diversity and interest.

A great online tool - worth exploring

Some of the ideas in this site remind me of a project I did a couple of years back with some gifted 7th graders in composition. Basically, they made a portfolio of their own "loop" compositions from the time they spent creating it on Acid 5 (a music loop-editing program) Sonar, and Audacity and from the chatting they did online using Blackboard (web 2.0) as a tool. If I had to do it today, I could probably work it out in large measure using wikispaces.

A rich video library from Europe with outstanding footage and music in such diverse fields as agriculture, energy, environment, medicine, health, the pure sciences. Breath-taking, great for streaming, multi-subjects.

Shakespeare we visited frequently in college with classroom analysis and with dramatic renderings onstage. The characters and lines, for me, do not lose their ring or relevance over time. Does anybody--either in jest (Wierd Al Jankovicz) or seriousness--try to put music to any of Shakespeare's work?

Awesome, stunningly beautiful and truthful. This is the kind of music that turns a student's head around to realities they are bathed in and do not realize. I used to teach Religion. It would work good there too.

I'd like to use this with some advanced music students. If only I had a few more computers.

Provides some free samples and a lot of pricey but high quality CD';s with Acid loops. The loops can be used with great effect to teach elements of composition n music in a way that kids can access and be enthusiastic about when using Acid software.

Provides useful tools for sight reading of music at different grade levels and varying levels of difficulty.

This is not a free site but is quite helpful when planning liturgy and music with and for students
