baileypeabody on 31 Aug 18When you have as much power as the president does, you must be very mindful. Pardons should be a rare thing and a thing that happens when an injustice has been prosecuted to a fair person who feels wrong about their actions. Trump is throwing around pardons like rolls at the dinner table. When you do that, it makes it seem like everyone, no matter the crime, deserves another chance, especially if they are on Trump's side. When you let power get to your head the way Trump is, instead of a democracy, it starts to feel more like a dictatorship.

Trumps presidency has been covered more widely than previous presidents but Obama granted 212 pardons and 1715 commutations so he's not going mad with power. he's doing his job. It's a good thing we're being critical and covering everything. But I don't think he's acting widely or crazy. America isn't a democracy by the way.
