  •
The Vermont senator told reporters here he was content with the overall delegate count and that his campaign's strategy is to accrue delegates through the primary process, reiterating what his top campaign officials have been saying for weeks. "The disappointment, to be honest with you, was in Ohio," Sanders then said.

YouTube Removes 17,000 Channels for Hate Speech | Hollywood Reporter - 16 views

  •
"The Google-owned company also removed 100,000 videos, a spike in takedowns since its new hate speech policy went into effect in June."
  •
it seems kind of stupid to me that they would do that usually they will give people a warning to take down the video that violates there rules but I guess they decided to just give up on them.
  •
I think that the arguments arising around Youtube, Facebook, etc. are interesting. Because, while they are private corporations with the ability to regulate their material how they please, they are also communication platforms. And being communication platforms, they have to conform to certain laws. They have to guarantee everyone a right to be seen and heard.

Trump budget calls for billions for border wall with Mexico - 5 views

  •
President Trump's discretionary budget plan set to be released Thursday reportedly includes a request for $2.6 billion in funding to begin planning and building a "physical wall" along the border with Mexico along with security funding. The Wall Street Journal reported that Tump will ask Congress for billions in new spending to be earmarked ofr immigration enforcement.

  •
Trump thinks he'll be able to persuade mexico to build the wall. He's crazy for thinking that. Why would they want to help fund for the wall when they don't want be even leave the United States. There's no way he'll be able to persuade them.
  •
I doubt Mexico will at all consider paying for the wall, it's just not their problem.
  •
I doubt that Mexico will pay for it because Trump is the one who wants it up, not them.
  •
What will Trump do if they refuse to pay?
  •
I don't think Trump actually thought about what would need to happen to make his precious wall when he was campaigning. I think he was more focused on getting the position and making everything sound good and now that it's time to step up to the plate HE created, he's trying to find anyway to get the money needed to fill said plate. He wants to cut so many programs and he expects others to pay and he just has his expectation bar to high. The border wall he wants to make would take $21 billion dollars! That's a lot of money to raise and I just can't help but think, what are the consequences of the actions he's willing to take to make that money appear.
  •
Who is going to pay for the wall?

This federal agency could blow up health care debate - 1 views

The Rock Thinks 'It's a Real Possibility' He Runs for President in GQ Exclusive | Bleacher Report - 2 views

  •
"When asked about the idea of running for president of the United States in the future, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson left the door open in an interview published Wednesday."
  •
I think The Rock could possibly be the president in the future, if Donald Trump won then I believe The Rock can too. The presidential race isn't about politics anymore, but about popularity.

Russia claims it can wipe out US Navy with single 'electronic bomb' - 15 views

  •
Russia has claimed it can disable the entire US Navy in one fell swoop using powerful electronic signal jamming. A news report from the country - where the media is essentially controlled by the state - said the technology could render planes, ships and missiles useless.
  • ...7 more comments...
  •
Russia is threatening the US with statements saying that they could destroy our navy and air force by jamming all of the signals. In my opinion Trump should take action to make sure that they don't do that because then America would be vulnerable. I'm not saying that we should attack but we should focus on defense right now.
  •
If so, why don't the Russians do it? And now that Russia apparently claimed what they can do, can America compete with this and maybe use the same technology on the Russians?
  •
How credible is this information? If it is credible what is the Government doing about the threat?
  •
Because Russia says they are capable of doing this. There is a possiblity of them expressing it over dramatically. If you look at the technology comparison, the United states is much farther ahead. You don't think we can do the same back at them? We probably can. Just get an EMP.
  •
You cant jam an M16 with an electric bomb.
  •
I was also reading from a few different sources that an ex-Russian official has suggested that Russia military has the ability to use underwater nukes to detonate a "tsunami bomb" off our coasts. This claim has been officially denied by the Putin govt, but interesting to consider weapons like this. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/05/01/russia-can-launch-tsunami-against-us-nuclear-bombs-buried-ocean/
  •
I'm not quite sure why we're so worried about alleged claims created by Russia. Not only that but the U.S. military as well as U.S. technology like Daniel said is much more advanced. If we really want to know if these allegations are true find out. Otherwise you stay living in fear over whether something is true or not. Take their threat and do something about it if it's a threat that's that high in severity.
  •
I wonder if Donald Trump has done anything about this, or is planning to. Russia threatening us with this is very serious and I have a feeling Trump is not doing much. Could Russia really disable all planes and missiles through an electronic signal?
  •
Is the government going to do anything about this issue? Or should the people have to worry about a near future war ahead?

Marcus Peters Sits During National Anthem of Chiefs vs. Patriots | Bleacher Report - 2 views

Another athlete protesting during the National Anthem. I wonder if this will occur more often as the season progresses?
  • ...2 more comments...
  •
As long as Kaepernick is still a free agent there will be more people that are protesting.
  •
this seems to happens often. Then again there are also many worse things certain plays have done and have gotten away with than this.
  •
These players doing this bulls*** should be immediately fired. Either stand for your country and show respect towards the fallen soldiers who went to war and lost their lives for you to even think about kneeling or leave and never turn back because you don't belong here.
  •
And players who do heinous things like rape or rob places don't get fired. Why should someone who decides to peacefully protest be fired? Many people who do kneel/sit actually have a huge respect for our soldiers. One last thing, look up the US flag code of conduct. Plenty of things that companies do, and probably even things that YOU do, Stockton, directly violate that code.

I don't think she should have been kicked out for expressing her opinion about the squad. There are so many people who do that especially about teachers. It doesn't effect how anyone is i.e bullying/ harassment these are just things that she thinks about the school and the sport.
  •
I believe that the coach had the right to kick her off of the squad. Her speech may have been protected however sports while they may be connected to the school ultimately if the coach decides that a participant is setting a bad example for their team they will be kicked out.
  •
I don't think she should have been kicked out for expressing how she felt if anything make her do more conditioning but dont kick her off the team
  •
I dont think that the coach really had any right to kick her off the team, she was expressing how it all made her feel and it was not at school, and why would someone even show the coach? why did they feel then need to do they
  •
I feel like the coach should not have had the right to kick the girl off the team because she expressed her feelings. The girl did this outside of school and it happens daily everywhere it is just never reported to the coach.
  •
I don't think the coach should have been able to kick her off the team she was expressing her feelings. I mean if they would have just let her on the team in the first place this situation wouldn't have happened.
  •
I think it was wrong for her to be kicked off the team just because she was expressing her feelings. It didn't even happen at school so she should not get punished by the school.
  •
Here is another link to the story if the original is not available for you... https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-56886687
  •
i think he was right to kick her off the team because the speech wasn't appropriate and that represents the teams, but i also think that she had the right to say what she was thinking, just not in that way. if he kicked her off for expressing her thoughts in a different way, then that would not be okay.
  •
In my opinion the coach should not have been able to kick her off the team. She was simply expressing her emotions and feelings about school. Many students say stuff like this in school and don't get punished for it.
  •
I personally think that kicking her off the team was the right decision. Her speech directly affected the team, the coaches, and the school, and action needed to be taken so it was clear that inappropriate conduct won't be tolerated. If she had worded her thoughts differently, maybe the outcome wouldn't have been the same.
  •
I feel like they shouldn't punish her. She was off school and had the right to voice her opinion. The school can't do anything if she wasn't even on school grounds.
  •
I think in this specific case they shouldn't have kicked her off the team because she was expressing how she feels. She didn't say anything offensive and she wasn't specifically targeting people. If what she said was targeting someone negatively or she was targeting the coach then maybe it'd be a different story but she was vaguely expressing her feelings and I don't think there is anything wrong with what she said.
  •
I don't think she should have been kicked off the team because she wasn't directly targeting someone. She was just voicing how she felt, I don't think she should be punished for that.
  •
I don't think she should be allowed to be kicked off for this because with something like this there isn't really anyone in specific that this is aimed towards so there's no targeted harm.
  •
I feel like they had a right to kick her off of the team. I'm on a competitive dance team and if I say anything that bashes or offends people at or people that work at my studio, then I would be kicked off of the team. She posted a photo saying that she's done with cheerleading and that is definitely something that would cost her a spot on the team.
  •
I feel like that is the right to free speech and she shouldn't be punished, but at the same time if its F School and F Cheerleading then why do it? Why participate in it then? Seems stupid on her part and disrespectful to the team, which I can see why she should also get kicked off. Because they don want someone like her representing their team.
  •
I think that it was right for them to kick her off because on a team you want to have responsible and respectful teammates. What she did affect the wholes teams image so I agree with what was done
  •
I think this case is dumb and a waste of time. So what she said F school everyone does. She's also a teenager she should be focusing on more important things other than a case.
  •
Obviously, she shouldn't have said this but I think the punishment was a bit harsh and she shouldn't have gotten kicked off the team for this. Yes it was disrespectful and no okay but the punishment seems extreme.

Biden should have dodged reelection question at first news conference - 16 views

  •
Should Biden run for president at the end of 2024? What are your thoughts?
  • ...13 more comments...
  •
In an ideal world, Biden wouldn't run so that a more popular progressive candidate could run. Unfortunately, Biden likely will run for re-election at the end of his term, or the DNC will push hard for another milquetoast centrist if he doesn't.
  •
I agree with Brandon. I don't think Biden is the best president out there. From what I saw, many people only voted for him to get Trump out of office. However, from what I read in the article, Biden was confident when he said, "Yes. My plan is to run for reelection. That's my expectation." As the current newly appointed president, it's good that Biden responded confidently even if he doesn't run again. He would have looked weak if he said anything else. Also, why are reporters asking this question so soon? Biden has only been in office for like three months. The press is just trying to hurry up life.
  •
I don't think that he should run again, he should allow another to run who might be able to be more productive or something.
  •
I don't think he will end up running again by the end of his term and I don't think he should either as he has labeled himself as a bridge president I think it's illogical to run again. him winning the presidency creates some momentum for the party and it's pretty obvious that from here some more democratic candidates will come forwards vying to be the top candidate, and I don't think Joe Biden coming to join them would be of any benefit and it would probably stand more as a division within the party. Joe Biden pretty much just stood as anti-Trump in this election for people so when people have the option to choose for another candidate I don't think many would choose Biden.
  •
Depending on how his term ends out should be a deciding factor for reelection.
  •
i think it's too early to think about reelection because even if he wants to run again, he might change his mind about it in a few years.
  •
I believe we should wait to answer this question, cause we don't know what he's going to do in the future.
  •
Biden has made some big mistakes, and has done things I don't approve of...But it's been less than a year, so I will give him a chance to correct his mistakes.
  •
I agree with Jackie, it's too early in Biden's presidency to be asking whether or not he'll run again. I'm sure he'll try to run again, but I'm not sure how successful he'll be. Many people just voted for him because they didn't want Trump in office, so I'm doubtful they'll vote for him when there are other options.
  •
it's too early in Biden's presidency to be asking whether or not he'll run again its been like 3 months that's a question that should be asked around the time of reelection.
  •
I don't Biden should run again because they are better options out there for our president. Many people only voted for Biden because they didn't like how trump was as a person rather than what his policies did.
  •
Personally, I think that Biden will run for president and I think that in 2024 he will lose. Do you think the rock can become president in 2024?
  •
I agree with most of the comments. It´s too early to tell if Biden will run again especially since it's only been a few months. Depending on what he does in the office and the feedback he gets will dictate if he runs again. I do feel that Biden was sort of elected just to get Trump out of the office and I hope that in the next election there's a better option besides just the one main factor was he wasn´t Trump. Either way, I look forward to following the rocks campaign.
  •
I personally think that Biden will not run for president in 2024. I think it is also too soon for anyone to say anything since it hasn't been a year. Everyone was concerned about Biden's age when he ran for president, I feel like he shouldn't run for president again for that reason. What if he has too many health issues? What are your thoughts?
  •
I agree with most of the comments that it is too early to tell, I think there is a chance he will run again but I don't see him getting voted in again. At least hopefully by then, we'd have better people to choose from as well. But especially cause of his age and him already being slow in general, it is unlikely for him to run again.

3 million new Covid-19 infections were reported in November, as hospitalizations reach a record high - 7 views

  •
I can't imagine how many cases there are going to be in December when Christmas rolls around.
  • ...7 more comments...
  •
I think cases are going to rise very dramatically due to people getting together for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  •
I think that the cases are going to keep going up. People are still going to get together for Christmas and thanksgiving and it is going to go way up.
  •
Cases are going to keep going up over the holidays.
  •
people are still getting together in big groups for the holidays and the number of cases is going to rise more and more.
  •
I'm sure no matter how you look at it, the cases will drastically go up in December. Especially since Christmas is rolling around, we saw how many families and people still gathered together for Thanksgiving. It's not going to be any better for Christmas.
  •
This is just going to get worse after black friday if nothing changes.
  •
thanksgiving and christmas are both holidays that are meant to be spent with your families so there was already no doubt that cases were going to go up. and same goes for black friday, you're shopping at multiple different stores in the span of two or three days
  •
Many people are spending time with their families around this time so there was no doubt that cases would have gone up. I'm just surprised they went up so drastically and in such a short period.
  •
we all suspected the rate of infection would go up during the holidays. meeting with people from all over the country definitely increases the amount of exposure a family can receive. people can choose to connect virtually instead of in person. it's not the same, but it decreases the exposure

Trump and his wife Melania test positive for coronavirus | Reuters - 8 views

  •
Global reactions have ranged from "Get well soon" to "I told you so" to even more blunt "wishes" for Trump. Remember that we are discussing this in an educational context for those who are going to comment on this situation. How do you think this is going to affect the election with only 32 days until the election?
  • ...12 more comments...
  •
I think that a lot of people are happy t0 see this happen based on what he says about coronavirus. Personally, I do not think that it will make a difference in what he says about coronavirus. The reason that I believe this is because Trump is most likely going to survive coronavirus because he is getting the best medical care around. I think after that he will still talk about how it is still a hoax becuase he survived it.
  •
I think that Trump didn't believe in COVID-19 until it actually happened to him and I hope that he will be more empathetic toward Americans going through this too. It did say he was symptomatic and that he is at high risk so there's a possibility that he might not make it.
  •
I think now that Trump has COVID-19 his political campaign will be impacted. He will need to be in quarantine for at least 2 weeks and with so few days left until the election, his campaign will be at least a little bit impacted. Even though he has COVID-19 I don't think his outlook on it will change at all.
  •
I hope now that Trump has COVID-19 he will be more willing to help other people with it and now be able to understand what others are going through.
  •
I hope that Trump is more willing to help people and realizes that coronavirus is a serious thing, now that he has it.
  •
I hope that Trump realizes that now that he has COVID-19 that it's a serious thing and helps other people with it.
  •
Its funny this happened right after he was making fun of biden for wearing a mask
  •
Hopefully, Trump is less insensitive to those who have COVID or have a family member who has had it and realizes how real and bad the virus can really be.
  •
I think it's ironic how after he's been saying for months that masks don't work and that the pandemic is a hoax that he contracts COVID. But even though he does have corona, he still isn't taking it serious. He's taking off his mask two days after the diagnosis in front of a sea of reporters and I just think it's despicable.
  •
I think that Trump with remain ignorant to the real effects of COVID and will continue to promote unhealthy recommendations to the public. I don't think having COVID will change him at all as he continues to display his normal narcissistic and dangerous behaviors that he always had
  •
It sounds like he is starting to take precautions and is learning from previous choices he may have made.
  •
I think that Trump is going to continue to take advice from the scientists but he is going to do what he feels is needed to "protect himself" from the Corona Virus. This doesn't mean he isn't going to not follow the ppe guidelines fro when in public.
  •
I think it's good he got it because he's learning how serious it really is. sometimes it takes the first-hand experience to realize the truth about something. I think this is a slap in the face to some of the republicans that didn´t believe it.
  •
I think it's kinda like karma for making fun of joe for wearing his mask all the time, although it does make him look bad because the president of our country makes fun of people for protecting themselves and taking covid seriously.

Nearly 9,000 Florida Children Diagnosed With Coronavirus in Two Weeks as Schools Reopen - 4 views

  •
"Shortly after the order was issued, the Florida Education Association filed a lawsuit saying that the order defied recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on safely reopening schools."
  •
I think we opened the schools to early. This is a great example of why. No matter how many precautions we take into effect to keep the schools and people inside safe, we still don't know enough about this virus to be able to fully be safe. In the artical it says "Across the different age groups listed in the pediatric report, there are 17,311 confirmed cases among Florida children between 14 and 17." In the highschools, thats the age group in our highschools, and that is the group that is mostly getting the virus. It's scary to think about getting sick when you have other family to worry about if they get it.

New York Times Releases Investigation of Trump's Tax Returns; Trump Calls it 'Fake News' | AllSides - 2 views

I think everyone should pay a certain amount on their taxes depending on how much they make. the trip makes $500 million a year according to his 2018 year income. It has shown he only paid 750 in federal income tax. not to mention he has gone on vacation many times which also costs from anywhere from 55 to 315 million. Even if he says its fake news things like those cant keep going on.
