There is a game called League of Legends that was developed over 2 years ago. This game is gaining massive popularity, primarily because those who succeed enough at this game get payed to play. For example, George Liu, a 23 year old resident of California makes over 500 dollars a day to play this game for 6 hours a day, 4-5 days a week. This is not even the highest they pay. Similar to sports, this is a team game. Recently, like all sports, they began to hold a 3 week "season playoff" game in which the winning team would receive 1 million dollars (Split between 5 people), and anyone who made it to the finals, left with at least 5 grand in there pocket, not to mention an all expenses payed trip to 3 locations in which they would host the game play. Sounds like fun right, getting payed to play a game you like? What's not fun, cheating. North America's #1 team was eliminated the first game, by the Korean team. Many claim the game play to be unfair, claims of map hacking, and many other claims of cheating have been made. So, an internationally popular game is taking away prize money which will be donated to charity, but the issues of this are so dramatic. So many opinions have been formed, that this is getting a little out of hand, over a game.

i think its crazy how much funding there is toward this game. i can understand the riot because people can get passionate about anything, but they're spending a lot just for a single game.

It's a world-wide competitive game. I mean, I see football players making more then these guys are giving away. Alex, the American teams nationality was from the same nation that had beat them.

Me personally I don't think video games can effect how us as humans. Also it's just a VIDEO GAME (keyword game) but this game should defiantly be 18+

Ending gun violence sounds like a great idea, but when it talked about video game violence, trying to put an end to violence in video games won't work because it's really not the problem. People make people violent, not video games.

I agree To Jaxon. It would be a good idea.....but it is not video games that is casing gun violence

Stopping gun violence, is a good idea in some ways. It talked about the many video games have that influence the gun violence. People choose their own actions, and people make them choices. No one can stop yourself besides yourself. Video Games do not influence any kind of crimes.

If video games influenced real life, the 80's would have been filled with Italian Plumbers and really bad Russian Architects.

With Minecraft just passing 20 million users, this will bring large attention to SOPA. Gamers who would otherwise not care about the bill will now notice that their favorite sandbox game is offline and it will spark interest in the gaming community as a whole.

It doesn't really matter, it's a matter of time before they create another one.

Football fans aren't even being true fans these days. If they truly respected their team, maybe they'd respect their teams rules. Football has made every go crazy these past few years, i have never seen so many fights, or posts just about football. It's a game... not your life, get over it, don't hurt people just because your psycho.

Rushing the field can be dangerous in some situations. You just need to be smart about what you are doing..

This happened at one of the basketball games I was at this year and I thought it was very disrespectful but nothing was said or done to the student section that said it.

This is the most pointless and idiotic "game". This type of thing can be very dangerous and whoever participates in it deserves to be punished severely.

I definitely think that I would be uncomfortable if I was at a football game and seen this. There was no reason for these boys to do this ad all they wanted to do was cause a problem. A high school football game is not the place to do this or involve politics with it

I don't think the students were trying to start stuff they were just showing their political opinion and no one should get mad about it because everyone is entitled to their own political views.

I find it interesting that laws are being made to protect children from certain content, as protection, more specifically the need therein, is based on perception, which roots in morality that really takes roots in religion, and by separation of church and state that means that you can't make a law in order to protect someone from a specific type of content. Violence really isn't something I see a need to protect children from, however the article did reference coitus-related interactions, which leads to an alternative related to child pornography (I believe a minor possessing pornographic materials falls under this catagory)

I don't think that they can, but if they do then videogames become just like tobacco, with older kids buying it for the minors.

This most likely will never happen. It seems illogical to me. But since they are preparing for a scientific "zombie apocalypse" then we should be prepared for almost any other natural disaster.

The eye witness admitted to sharing a bottle of vodka with the girl. If she allowed herself to get so sloppy drunk, especially at the age of 16, then how are people suppose to feel bad for her? I mean i'm not saying that getting "raped" is ever okay but I'm sure the boys were impaired as well and neither parties really knew what was going on. Another thing I would like to point out is, how does this girl just happen to show up at MULTIPLE parties with these guys?

If the girl has party with the boys before, and probably then, got stupid drunk, then what would urge the oys to "take advantage" of her this time, as opposed to all the other times? It does not make sense. Plus, she is only sixteen, so it is more her fault that she even allowed herself to go to parties, knowing everything that could, or may happen.

I can't believe this stuff still exist. The football team is segregated but the prom isn't? What took so long?

I am curious if you agree or disagree with the decision. Here are excerpts from three documents the school district has sent me about the decision.

In response to Payton W: If an employee would get fired for wasting company time on Facebook, what is a logical penalty for teachers/administrators to administer to those who refuse to work? It is hardly a solution to take the computer away, since there is so much effort placed on getting kids to use them for class work. Of course we cannot "fire" our students like an employee. Following your logic, shouldn't "moving on to the next thing" also get you the same penalty? Isn't the real issue students wasting time (whatever it might be)?

Mr. Pregon, the personal issue with this is, we can't go around blocking things all the time, that does not teach good choice-making skills. I know that one solution, that may only work in some situations, is that, make them do it by hand. I've seen teachers use this before, and noticed quiet a bit improvement on students taking it upon themselves to avoid facebook. Mr. Nelson, in Algebra 2 made someone solve a 3 variable question using Matrices by hand, which can take about 10 minutes for a single problem. That student has not been on facebook in his class, or at least caught, since. As for penalties, students do have privileged that teachers may take away, such as going to the bathroom during class. Although, that is unlikely to affect most students, it is hard to say whether or not that will have much affect. Perhaps a major punishment such as Monday school if caught so many times? I have no direct answer as to how this should work though.

I have watched other things like speeches and looked online. But this post is strictly just about the debate and to me Mitt Romney won. Now, I understand there is no actual winner and I'm not saying you guys are wrong, but going by just this debate, Romney without a doubt won.

Alex, if there is no actual winner than how did he win? that's contradicting yourself. I agree that Romney presented himself better at the debate but outside of the debate I believe Obama has and you believe Romney has we are just going to have to agree to disagree
