    Personally I believe that the NDAA for 2012 should never have been signed. I also think that it is a little late to try and fix this because people in Congress have already agreed that they want to permanently detain American citizens without trial and now are just trying to save face by "opposing" it. After all the author of that amendment, Senator Feinstein, voted for the NDAA for 2012. What really confuses, and kind of angers me, is that Obama said when he signed the NDAA for 2012 he didn't want that part in the law but he was signing it anyway (I don't have a quote but I'll find one). Now he is trying to defend indefinite detention of citizens in court after a federal judge found it unconstitutional. Another interesting article about this is this one.     Media blows things way out of proportion, starting with making the movie "2012." There is no scientific evidence of any apocalyptic events that will happen between now and December 21st, so I don't see what the big hysteria is. People will believe anything the news or the internet says and the internet is only correct a very small fraction of the time.

    Foolish Payton, Doctor Who has already conclusively proven that all you need to prevent a planet ramming into us is the Doctor and a time lock. Or, alternately, the Doctor and his TARDIS, which can haul the other planet away. Seriously, though, it's extraordinarily sad that people insist on believing this. Something is very wrong when children become sick and suicidal because they believe in the end of the world. For that to happen the parents/guardians must either be encouraging the belief that the world will end, or at least not doing anything to dispel that belief. Very sad.

    As far as the Mayan calendar part is concerned, they probably got bored with doing it and wanted to do something else. But I don't remember anyone saying anything about how the Mayans specifically wrote on the calendar, "This is the day the world will end." Also, the day of Doomsday was later changed to sometime in the spring of 2011, or that's when the Rapture was supposed to happen or something. But nothing happened whatsoever. So it's a little surprising to see people still freaking out about how Doomsday is supposedly on December 21st, when nothing happened on that day in 2011. So nothing's going to happen. It's also really sad that some people want to commit suicide because they think the world is going to end.

    I understand there rage towards the gun company, but you can't sue them for selling a gun. that's what there job is, that's just what they do. they didn't intentionally sell it to that guy knowing the terrible things he was going to do.

    I think the gun makers should not allow that gun to be to sold to the public. Its too powerful. But on the other hand the shooter could just get another gun. I don't think its the gun manufactures fault. People do crazy things, and it just happened to be their gun.

    They shouldn't sue the maker/seller, it was legal to sell that type of gun at that time. The seller didn't know that Lanza was going to shoot 20 first-graders and 6 teachers.

    I agree that it is wrong to sell such a powerful weapon to the general public. Never the less, you still aren''t going to get back some of those guns they have sold. A military issued weapon should not be sold to the general public, it has no good use for the public. But at the same time, I believe there is no reason to sue the company. The company didn't know this was going to happen.

    This whole massacre just absolutely angers me. I cannot believe that a gun that would be used in the military was used by a young, inexperienced man to kill 20 children and 6 faculty. Yeah, the gun-maker didn't know that Lanza was going to go out and do this, but they could have sold a different gun (a gun that would NOT be used in the military.) I think the victims' families did the right thing by sewing the gun-maker. He killed children and wives/husbands....LOVED ONES. That's not okay.

I don't think its fair to sue the gun company, just because you buy a gun doesn't mean you are going to do what happened on that terrible day.

    I think that we should have better background checks before people are sold guns. Also the gunmaker had no idea that Lanza would do something like what he did. The families have a good case because he shouldn't have had the gun at all because it is a very highly powered weapon.

    I do believe that such powerful guns should not be allowed to the public, especially for recreational use. I also do believe that before guns are sold to civilians we should issue many different back ground check systems. This is to ensure no gun is more powerful than the ones the law has and no one who is dangerous has a dangerous weapon.

    I agree that these guns shouldn't be sold to the public and in fact only used for military purposes. But I do not agree that the maker of the gun should be sued. He just made the gun. He didn't influence the carrier of the gun to do what he did with it. It's like suing a company who makes knives in the same situation. It's all about the user, not the maker.

    Obama seems to have a lot more support then Romney money wise. I wonder if that is going to have an outcome on the election, or if bigger the more wealthy just support Obama, even though Romney is the one saying not to Tax them. This is very interesting to me.

    I think that they have the right to be there, but they should understand that this is not a good time to do this. They should understand how hard it must be for their parents, and would feel the same way if one of their children died. I also do not agree with the fact they blame homosexuality for all the problems and say God hates America. In reality God does not hate anyone because we are all his children.

    I agree with everything they are saying. The government can make a lot of money on the taxes from selling pot and on top of t hat is it really that bad? We are accept alcohol and it is far more dangerous. How many violence issues, accidents, deaths, and overdoses have you heard of from pot compared to alcohol or any other drug. Pot is looking pretty well now compared to them.

    I agree that legalizing marijuana is a good idea. After all, alcohol is a far more dangerous and more addictive drug and our society practically expects people to drink. The only problem I have with this article is that it implies legalizing marijuana will end the "war on drugs." Legalizing marijuana won't stop people from using other, more dangerous, drugs.

    In my opinion the biggest obstacle to widespread legalization is the lack of a quick, real-time test which allows us to determine the level of impairment. I certainly don't want people driving drunk and there are many tests that we can administer to determine if the person is under the influence right now. Tests for marijuana can show use in some cases for weeks past. There are plenty of activities that people should not do while high or drunk, but how can we be certain of misuse without a more reliable way of testing?

    I understand that marijuana is not addictive or has as bad of an effect as drinking, but there is no quick test or "legal limit" like there is with alcohol, so how could we make it somewhat safe? Being high impairs your reflexes and ability to function normally, as does being drunk. I for one, wouldn't want to be anywhere and have someone just start smoking a joint and have to breathe in the smoke and worry about getting contact high. Smoking marijuana would have to obey the smoking cigarettes law of not being able to do it in businesses. And what would the age limit be, 18, 21? Smoking pot around children would need to be against the law because they wouldn't be of age to breathe it in. And what about the people like me who don't want to be around it? I could understand if you do it in the privacy of your own home, because that doesn't bother anyone. Also, would you be able to drive while high? Does every user know the effects it has on their body like cigarette smokers do because its on each packet? There are many situations that would have to be considered in the legalization of marijuana. I see no problem with it if it's in your own home or a place, like a bar that is for smoking pot, because isn't that what bars are for, drinking alcohol? So keep all possible situations in mind when forming an opinion on the legalization of marijuana.

    I can understand maybe being prescribed marijuana for medical purposes, because I know that does happen, but I'm not too keen on making it legal in other ways. Even if it has no addictive effects, it smells really bad. And there's also the getting high part.

    Recently the hacker activist group Anonymous used their skills to identify a man that may have been the cause of a recent teen suicide (Amanda Todd). I know the techniques they would have used were illegal, which makes me wonder about how rigid a law system should be.

    Regardless of your political ideology, this editorial has some pretty obvious bias that the author isn't really trying to hide. My favorite is where he implies that criminals and illegal immigrants decided the last election. "Voter rolls have been purged in 2012 of felons and illegals in many states -- particularly Florida and Ohio. Turnout of Democrats will be nothing like 2008.Which brings up another important question. What kind of political party relies on felons and people illegally in the country to win elections?"

    I can only hope that he does drop out of the race. I don't believe that anyone as ignorant as he seems to be is fit to be a Senator. I would have hoped that if someone were a pro-life advocate they could at least take the time to understand the reproductive system. Not to mention that "legitimate rape" is possibly one of the most offensive things you could say when discussing this issue. Is he trying to imply that there is non-legitimate rape or does he just not realize what he's saying?

    I hope Romney wins the election. I believe Obama is destroying our country and if he gets reelected the United States is going to fall apart to the point where it is going to take decades to repair (if it's not to that point already).

    Romney might be projected to win but you never know what's going to happen until it does.... and everyone says Obama is destroying the country but how can you destroy something that has was already in war and destroyed when you got it? it takes a long time for repair and if we keep switching presidents we will never give any of them enough time to fix the U.S

    I think that president Obama will win the reelection because all the past presidents have always been reelected if they have not resigned.
