    I am glad this law has been put in place. It still protects unborn life but makes exceptions for "rape, incest or medical emergency". I hope other states decide to put this law in place.

    I think this is a good decision to put this law into place because it allows exceptions for "rape, incest or medical emergency" but can still protect an unborn life.

    I feel that the law is too restrictive because most women do not know they are pregnant and if you are 18 and have a kid then you might not be financially stable enough to take care of the child, then we have another kid not growing up with their parents or going into a foster care program.

    I highly disagree with this. Women have the right to control what goes on with their bodies if they don't want to carry a child at all they shouldn't be made to do so. Just like if a women is married and doesn't want to have kids she should be able to get herself "fixed" she should be required to have two or more children before doing so or get approval from her spouse.

    I feel this ban in unfair, as most women wouldn't know they are pregnant until it is too late. With this ban in place it eliminates the women's choice whether they want the child or not.

    I agree with hayleigh35, most women can't even tell if they're pregnant by 6 weeks, so the bill really doesn't work in that sense, but I am glad that they put the exceptions of rape, incest or medical emergency. When they're raped, women don't get to choose whether they want to have a kid or not because it is forced upon them. In that case, they should be able to abort the child.

    I disagree with this. At 6 weeks there is a very slim chance of knowing whether you are pregnant or not. Many women have irregular periods and can be off by two weeks even. This can lead to people being unable to get abortions before they even know that they are pregnant. Even though this may make exceptions in the terms of "rape" it still is not an effective way or limit

    Many students asked my view on this law.... I will simply say that I have felt grateful that 99% of my students followed my classroom policies 99% of the time with regards to seating charts, sanitizing, masks, etc. They respected my classroom all year long even if they personally disagreed with that. Now because of this new law (which is based more on partisanship than science) I am in the opposite role and I will trust and respect the choices students make in the last week of school whether or not I personally agree with their view. I know how to make changes in government when I feel a need for change. As always, if you have an opinion on this topic, I would love for you to respectfully share it here.

    I do not believe the mandate should be lifted seeing as a lot of people are un-vaccinated, susceptible to COVID, and the herd immunity process is barely beginning. There's no way that we're going to eradicate COVID if we can't do the bare minimum of wearing masks. Most people don't even wash their hands for 20 seconds,and wear their masks under their nose. If we can't wear a mask correctly, can't wash our hands, and refuse to get vaccinated, I sincerely believe we might have to deal with COVID as we do with the flu by taking yearly shots and such.

    I personally believe that the mask mandate should not have been lifted. Yes, some people are vaccinated but there are not enough people vaccinated for herd immunity to work well. I also believe that she should have just waited to lift the mask mandate. We have gone through this whole school year wearing masks and for that to change overnight is just confusing to understand. She should have just waited until schools got out for summer and then lifted it if she really wanted to.

    I think that the Dr. Seuss banning in schools was uncalled for because the pictures in his books from the 1950s were just the way it was back then and I do not believe he went out to be racist. Does anyone else have any opinions?

    I do not think that they should be banning Dr. Seuss in schools and I do not think that he came out to be racist with his books. when he started wringing that was how people did and things were back then and today's society is so sensitive to everything. so many kids grew reading his books that I just think it is wrong.

    Dr. Suess being canceled is just going too far. He wrote children's books in the 1950s, back then things like pictures in a children's book were not viewed as something that could be racist and I believe that that is not what he intended at all. These books were made for the entertainment of children.

    I don't feel Dr. Seuss books were published to spread hate on certain races. I could be wrong but if it was, they would be canceled far before now. I think these books should not be banned due to the fact, if they were racist, we could learn from the past. We all know the 1950s had minstrel shows which promoted things such as black face. We do not ban those videos or other past history evidence because we learn from those things. It's all history and we can not change what happened. All we can do is learn to be better.

    I agree with laceyperry067 I don't believe that there was ill intent behind the books it was just what was "acceptable" at the time. I don't think it would be right the erase the work of a good writer, but as a person of color we should neither condone nor promote those kinds of images in children's books. Books like this, with dated ideas, should be handled differently in order to teach right from wrong. We have to learn from the ugly truth in order to grow and move past it.

    I grew up reading Dr. Seuss books and enjoyed reading them. It's insane to think that they are now being canceled. Granted, I feel like all we can do is move past this and learn from it. However, I do not think that erasing his literature is a good idea.

    A few things. First off, as a response to Zeak as far as my knowledge is concerned, the books are still going to be sold. (Unless a business decides not to sell them.) What's happened is that they aren't going to be printed anymore, new copies aren't going to be made. Second, as a general thing does everyone actually know the books that aren't being printed? None of them are particularly famous, except for maybe "And to Think that I saw it on Mulberry Street." As well, it's not some outside force making the Seuss estate stop publishing these books, they willingly decided to do so. No-one is being "Cancelled," here.     I don't think that we should cancel Dr.Suess. His books were fine before and then suddenly everyone hates them? If you are offended by his books for some reason, then just don't read them, it's as simple as that. You shouldn't go as far as banning them.

    I think its weird to stop producing a kids picture book because kids really don't take books that deeply. Plus at such a young age the kids don't understand much of today's society so it makes no sense to stop producing books that were made in the 50's.

    I read these books as a kid and it didn't influence me to believe stereotypes, I just read them for fun like a little kid would and it had no effect on my future.

    I think that children shouldn't be reading things that may affect their opinions on people, which I understand how these books potentially could. However, I was not negatively affected by any of these books and can also see how people may just see them as children's books. I see other people commenting about how things were different in the 1950s and that is why it should be allowed, but things are different now. We don't need racist children's books from the past, and if that's Dr. Suess then I feel like he was banned for a good reason.

    When I was a kid I used to love Dr. Seuss's books and as a kid, you don't think about the so-called "racist" part of the books kids just see bright colors and fun characters. I think canceling Dr. Seuss's books was uncalled for and kind of ridiculous.

    I heard something about this actually. The executive branch went to Hollywood, and asked them to come up with 50 impossible worst case scenarios. They are going to prepare for the top 10 or something. This is due to 9/11, nobody ever thought someone would be stupid enough to (and smart enough to pull it off) crash planes into 2 towers, and the pentagon. They thought it be impossible, so now the government is going to prepare for the impossible.

    If you read the reasons for doing this, it actually makes sense. Although they might be preparing for "zombies," the training is really giving them experience that would let them handle terrorist attacks, mobs, etc. A doctor from the CDC said this: "If you are generally well equipped to deal with a zombie apocalypse you will be prepared for a hurricane, pandemic, earthquake, or terrorist attack." So while training our military for a zombie apocalypse might seem eccentric it really isn't. Besides, there are actually a number of theories on how humans could become zombie-like, and some of them are even backed up by science.     This doesn't actually mean there is going to be a zombie apocalypse. People will believe anything the media puts out there. I agree with Mallory, if they are prepared for a science fiction "zombie attack" then they are prepared for almost any natural disaster or terrorist attack.

    I think it's great that people that are unemployed are getting help, but you can't make people too comfortable not having to work for money or they never will. There are people that work hard and could get more money from the government by doing nothing. Governmental programs for unemployment and low income families have become too relaxed. People rely too much on the government; they should support themselves.

    I don't understand what the big deal is, anyone can be killed from anything. You could kill someone with one of the pillows provided to you or even construct a weapon from parts of a dismantled pair of headphones. Whether they're permitting this stuff or not, it shouldn't make you feel less safe. People carry this stuff all the time just around your neighborhood, but you still "think" you're safe. If there's a will, there's a way, modern day Murder McGyvers.

    I think think it was an accident, but the mother should be held responsible for being the one who gave the little boy a gun. I don't think young kids should be allowed to have any kinds of weapons at a young age. I mean I know they may be old enough to understand that it's bad, but how many 5 year old kids do you know that will actually listen and do stuff theyre not supposed to. I think it's fine to own a gun if you want to, but not for kids and they need to be under lock and key.

    I agree with Hannah, they should not be getting condoms at 12 that is way too young to even be thinking about doing that kind of stuff. But I also agree with Spencer, they should be taught about protection that way when the time comes MANY years later, they know what the right thing to do is.
