PANDA is a data sharing cloud site that would help keep editors and data journalists on the same page. Because PANDA is compatible with excel, most people would be able to use it with relative ease.

Journalists and editors would find a lot of this social media news to be helpful while trying to expand their own online reach

This site sponsors a social media conference each year, but only allows about 400 people to come to it to create a more individualized atmosphere. Seems like a neat idea.

This is much more than your average online dictionary.  Search for quotes, look up abbreviations, find cultural definitions, look up root words and play grammar games.  This site has loads of all around useful resources.

I enjoy finding new blogs devoted to media criticism, analysis and sticky issues. On The Media from NPR does just that.

Some of the stories are entertaining like this one about an assistant principal filing a lawsuit against his students after they created a parody Facebook account about him.

And because the blog is produced by NPR they have some great podcasts. I enjoy a good podcast. This week had a wide variety of topics to enjoy tackling issues from Obamacare to fake news.

Different tabs at the top allow you to find all different kinds of information.  Data tab is particularly useful as it can present the data information and three different ways, and also tells you where the data is from, so you can find out if the facts come from a legitimate source.

The View from CoMo: On Disruption and the Act of Journalism | Bubble & Blender - 0 views

Even though he's at CoMo, I like a couple of this guy's points. Journalists are so concerned about the mediums we are or are not using that we forget about the act of journalism.
  • Journalism doesn’t depend on paper. Or broadcast. Or the Web, for that matter. While surely influenced by it, the act of journalism must now be separated from the media that deliver it.
  • Journalists have focused on the changes to the business of journalism without fully embracing the changes to the act of journalism.

  • Anyone with a smartphone and a Twitter account can participate in the act of journalism. And that, my friends, is a disruption much larger than the exodus of advertising from print pages.  Professional journalists will have no choice but to reinvent their role in the news reporting and delivery value chain.
