wow - this lets you use google docs to compile latex online directly without copying the content to your own computer ... it even can use other google doc files dependent on the main file aparently ...

nice tool ! now we can think about implementing it for the quaterly report ;)

did any of you Latex gurus already try this out?

I assume that you use latexdiff from the command line ... still have to find a nice script with which to integrate it into the TexShop GUI for Karène ...

A command line is an interface as well. I was able to explain via phone to a (computer-wise) avarage undereducated Mac-user how to install and run latexdiff. Thus I think also Karene can use it...

Here it works fine in Chromium, Firefox and Opera (Linux).

Worked fine, but after saving a document I can't get it back to the LaTeX mode...

new revTex version available ... what do they mean by this? how do they use XML and latex to XML? would this also be an option for acta futura? "While we appreciate the benefits to authors of preparing manuscripts in TeX, especially for math-intensive manuscripts, it is neither a cost-effective composition tool (for the volume of pages AIP currently produces) nor is it a format that can be used effectively for online publishing."

Dunno really, they may have some in-house process that converts LaTeX to XML for some reason. Probably they are using some subset of SGML, the standard generalized markup language from which both HTML and XML derive. Don't think is really relevant for Acta Futura, and the rest of the world seems to get along with TeX just fine...

For hardcore latex users (btw ... implemented in haskell ... classical machine learning app, but useful)

my understanding is that it runs on your other computer who would do all the compiling ....

can be helpful ... but also very tricky. There are so many ways to write the same equation...

nice application for mac users to use Bibdesk integrated into MS word ... still have some problems with the template file but hope to solve this soon ....

This is a bibliography management system one of my project partners suggested. I (Tobias) am trying it out in the frame of the project. If you do not hear anything from me, it was probabely not sooo successfull...

seems nice, but would be a lot of work to implement and we already have something operational... It would add the search module and article in html (what about the compatibility with latex...?). For now I think we should focus on the next issue of acta futura !
