Microsoft creates mini internet to reliably test and improve Internet Explorer | Extrem... - 0 views

  •
With the grandiose bluster that only an aging juggernaut can pull off, Microsoft has detailed the Internet Explorer Performance Lab and its extraordinary efforts to ensure that IE9 is competitive, and that IE10 is the fastest browser in the world. Here's a few bullet points to reel you in: 140 computers, 20,000 tests per day, over 850 metrics analyzed, and a granularity of just 100 nanoseconds.

HTML5 test site - 2 views

There are a number of HTML5 testing sites (like HTML5TEST), but this one has an interesting way of grouping key features into Rings. Ring 0 is not too difficult to reach, but there are very few browsers that go beyond Ring 0 these days.

"It's an amazing time once again to build a computer. Intel's "Ivy Bridge" CPUs alongside with the latest motherboards are the fastest and most compatible consumer components we've ever tested. There is native support for Thunderbolt, NVIDIA GeForce 6xx "Kepler" graphics cards, and Ivy Bridge in OS X Mountain Lion 10.8."

Add checkboxes to an Excel spreadsheet - 0 views

  •
If you're setting up a worksheet only for yourself, you can simply leave an empty cell for this purpose. To check it, just type in an x or any other character. Then use a formula with the =isblank() function to make the contents of that cell affect the rest of the spreadsheet. But you might want something more mouse-friendly--especially if you're designing a spreadsheet for other people. I've tested the technique below on Excel 2007, 2010, and 2013. I'm not sure about earlier versions. You can insert checkboxes on Excel's Developer tab. Unfortunately, that tab is hidden by default. To make it visible in Excel 2010 or 2013, click the File tab and select Options. ClickCustomize Ribbon. You'll see two lists. Make sure that the one on the right is titled Main Tabs. Check Developer.

» Why Is My IP Address From Another State? - IT Professionals - Lockergnome - 0 views

  •
Recently I had someone ask me a question I wanted to share with you. They asked me why in the heck their IP address appeared to be coming from the other side of the country? Honestly, I can understand why this would freak someone out! Imagine not understanding what is going on as you do an IPChicken.com check only to see the IP looking odd. Then you run a speed test and learn you're suddenly based in another region of the country. I mean come on, that is just going to feel weird to the uninformed.
