This is the One for stock Android lovers. - 0 views

"Handset makers and wireless carriers love to load up Google's Android platform with custom overlays, user interface tweaks, and third-party programs that don't ship natively with the open source operating system. That's great for them, but most power users would prefer a clean version of Android to work with, which is why the third-party ROM community is popular. Well, following in the footsteps of Samsung and it's custom S4 that was announced at Google I/O, HTC is reportedly kicking around the idea of offering a Google Edition of its One smartphone. News of the custom HTC One comes from Russell Holly over at Geek.com. Citing un-named sources, Holly says the Google Edition device would be offered in the U.S. first, though it's unclear if it would be carried in the Play Store like the Galaxy S4 will be. Other details are equally light and vague, though Holly claims an official announcement could come within the next two weeks, with a release likely planned for sometime this summer." JavaScript is the language of Akshell. Modern web apps usually have a rich AJAX interface created using one of the popular client-side JavaScript libraries; in Akshell you employ it for the server side too. This makes your app more integral and robust; you can even share some code between the client and server sides, e.g., the code of form validation.

Java Basics: GUI: Lesson 1 - Introduction - 0 views

  • Giving up control - Event-driven programming. The GUI programming style is referred to as event-driven programming. In this style of programming you set up the graphical user interface and initialize things. It appears that the program just stops and sits there doing nothing! There is no input loop; your program isn't trying to read from the user. You, the programmer, have to learn to give up control in two ways. Your program gives control to the GUI system, and you only get control back to when your listeners are called. At an even higher level, your program has given control to the user. It's the user who selects which of your methods to call by their choice of buttons to click on, menu items to select, etc. Listeners. When the user clicks a button (or uses another GUI component), an event is sent to listener method. Your job as a programmer is to write a listener method for each component. It's the user, not the programmer, who has control, indirectly choosing methods in your program to execute by interacting with graphical user interface components.
