IPads in the classroom: The right way to use them, demonstrated by a Swiss school. - Sl... - 0 views

  • Teachers I talked to seemed uninterested, almost dismissive, of animations and gamelike apps. Instead, the tablets were intended to be used as video cameras, audio recorders, and multimedia notebooks of individual students’ creations. Instead of focusing on what was coming out of the iPad, they were focused on what was going into it.

In order to shift from a school with a BYOD policy to a school with a BYOD learning environment, mindset shifts need to occur organizationally:

Educational Technology Guy: Khan Academy - not good pedagogy and not #edreform - 0 views

  •
Khan Academy is videos of lectures. This is nothing new. They are boring and do not allow the student to interact with the lecturer. They also focus on solving a math or science problem through basic steps, but do not focus on the actual theory behind the problem. The student may be able to solve that problem, but can they apply the concept to other problems and situations?
