Russia's history wars: access to the truth restricted - again | openDemocracy - 0 views

  •
The trial of Mikhail Suprun has become the latest cause célèbre in Russia's continuing history wars. A trumped up charge, a sloppily worded article in the Criminal Code: the case should never have come to court. Now the verdict is about to be handed down - though the expected bad publicity is being kept for after the election - and access to the truth is once more restricted, says Catriona Bass

Virtual Field Trips | SimpleK12 - 0 views

  •
Virtual field trips challenge and expose students to new types of technology. It is a great way to spark their interest and motivate their learning in a specific content area. Virtual field trips can offer students more opportunities because you can take them to places they wouldn't normally be able to go to otherwise - like inside a volcano or ocean floor! In addition, virtual field trips may even boost students' reading comprehension skills and will expose them to different cultures and environments. While virtual field trips offer a great learning opportunity, they can be hard to organize and time consuming. Take advantage of our free virtual field trips and engage your students even more!

TwHistory - 0 views

"TwHistory is about helping students experience a slice of time through the eyes of another person. The aggregate of these personal experiences can then give a unique perspective of an event in history. It's dull to memorize the events of the 13 days of the Cuban Missile Crisis for a pop quiz but it gets your attention when McNamara drops the F-bomb on Twitter because the world is about to end in a big nuclear fireball."

Perry-Castañeda Library Historical Maps Collection - 0 views

"Buried in this massive and slightly cluttered website lies the Benson Latin American Collection, home of the highest resolution images of rare Latin American Maps. The Relaciones Geográficas, a collection of maps made mostly by indigenous priests for a report to Spanish king in the 16th century, are a must-see. Maps such as Zumpango and Culhuacán show native mapping symbols (horseshoe, footprint, pictographs) mixed with European elements (perspective buildings, alphabetic writing). "
