This fantastic tool enables students to participate in exciting, illuminating collaborative debate or group brainstorming. Students can work together to build graphs and visual representations of complex topics and arguments, creating subject-maps and spider graphs to clearly show different contributors' ideas and input. The graphs can then be saved for future reference or to be marked by a teacher or presented to other groups of students later on.

This site is an ongoing collaboration between the World Resources Institute's Global Forest Watch Project and the Institute for Man and the Environment in the Amazon (Imazon). In this site, you will find spatial data layers and analyses about the Brazilian Amazon, and you will be able to query for specific information and print custom maps. Available datasets are organized by themes. Individual layers within themes can be viewed by checking the box next to each layer and pre-selected queries (to the right) are also available. Way back in the day, when I was a student, I remember drawing out my timelines with colored pencils on pieces of taped together construction paper (to make the line long enough). We've come a long way since the late '80′s, and there are a lot of web tools and apps out there that help users make much more advanced timelines than I could crank out with my awesome colored pencils. Whether you're using them to chronicle well known historical events, or your own personal history, these tools can bring together audio, video, photos, text, and more to showcase a well rounded, multimedia timeline to tell your story. Time Toast timetoast Time Toast also offers uses free, unlimited timelines and easy Facebook integration. The interface is extremely simple - just click 'add an event', and you can add text, links, or photos. While it doesn't offer some of the audio/video options that some of the other products we mention in this post do, it offers a lot more simplicity.
