From now until September 14th the JSMA is holding and exhibit with works borrowed from RBC Wealth Management Art Collection. The exhibit features 40 works of art done by contemporary artist. I went to visit the exhibit to day and really enjoyed to different styles of all the artist that where featured also the stories that inspired the art.
till June 20th The Maude Kerns Art Center is hosting "In the Moment: Self-Portraits of 20 Women Artists," the exhibit features work in eleven different mediums such as painting, sculpture, jewelry, basketry, dance, and songwriting all the work is done from women who call the Pacific Northwest home.
The band plain white T's are playing the playing in the Cuthbert amphitheater on Friday the 18th. If you haven't been to the Cuthbert it's a great venue for the summer months, even if you don't get a ticket you can go and hang out in Alton Baker Park.
This gem of a school located in NE Portland has been loved by the neighborhood for years. McMenamin's has repurposed the building built in 1905 to become a hotel, bar, and a place to display art. The building now features 57 rooms with bath phone while still keeping the original chalk boards. Through out the building there are several bars and a brewery.
This is the final weekend to go to the University of Oregon theater to see their rendition of Alice in wonder land. The tickets are free for university students just need to be there at 7 to claim your ticket.
The 12th annual brew fest will be held June 7th this Saturday in the Eugene brewing district located on Blair. Although we haven't talked about consumable products as art I feel that brewing beer and wine can be considered art. Also the location of the festival is a growing art neighborhood in Eugene.
This is a hub for events that are going on in Eugene. The website débuted May 14th and is ran by my friend Richard. He has tried to make interactive by also implementing a tumbler feed that post the main page.
Light field cameras add a third measurement to the traditional cameras ability to capture colors and intensity it adds the direction of all light coming into the lens. This given a photographer the ability to change the focal point after the picture is take.
Free concert tonight at Black Forest on 11th and Oak. The Saturday Giant is a one man band started by Phil Cogley. He plays guitar over tracks that are looped live on stage. This allows him to recreate each song from scratch every night.
