Terrorists shot dead three policemen after abducting them from Shopian district of J&K early today, police said. Police identified the dead as constable Nissar Ahmed and two special police officers, Firdous Ahmed and Kulwant Singh, from Kapren and Heepora areas of Shopian district.

At least 17 passengers were killed when a mini-bus skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in J&K's Kishtwar district today, officials said. A total of 17 persons died and 16 others injured in the unfortunate incident, District Development Commissioner (Kishtwar) Angrez Singh Rana said.

At least 36 persons in Bareilly and adjoining Badaun districts of Uttar Pradesh have succumbed to fever in the last 15 days, officials said Tuesday. The state government has constituted three teams of doctors to look into the cases in Bareilly and Badaun, UP DG (Health) Padmakar Singh said.
