Find a day and pay attention to what your yoga teacher is saying during class. You might have realized that some scientific names are mentioned. Alot of people just let it pass them by as long they manage to get the pose the teacher is asking for. By taking mental note of one or two, you can learn further by asking your teacher about what they have just mentioned in class. It is a subtle opportunity for you to be lead into the further knowledge and understanding of the asana you've just did in class.

How to Teach Yoga to Golfers - 0 views

  •
By Kimaya Singh Golf centers, courses and retail stores can be found almost everywhere. Golf is a popular game that seems to involve hitting a small ball into a small hole. True golfers know it is much more than that. It's a game of great skill and precision, great concentration and focus. Many golfers complain of lower back pain due to the twisting of the spine during each swing. Yoga training can be an effective way to strengthen the core, loosen the spine and improve any golfer's focus. Private yoga sessions for golfers might be the key to their success on and off the course.

Teaching Yogic Practices: Warrior I - Yoga Teacher Training Blog - 0 views

  •
By: Virginia Iversen Warrior I is one of the fundamental standing poses of any Yoga practice. This pose is very grounding and invigorating. If Warrior I is taught and practiced correctly by your students, they will feel more focused, confident and stronger after practicing a vigorous sequence of Yoga asanas that includes a series of Warrior poses. With apt instruction, your students will be able to move into Warrior II and Warrior III from Warrior I Pose with little difficulty. As their practice progresses, they will also be able to move fluidly from a series of Warrior poses into Half Moon Pose and Eagle. Both of these poses are particularly nice to move into from Warrior III.

Discipline and Teaching Yoga by Example - Yoga Instructor - 0 views

  •
Clearly, a balanced practice of Yoga postures, breathing exercises and contemplative techniques lends itself quite easily to improving one's physical capabilities and mental outlook on life. By weaving some of the timeless wisdom of Yoga into your classes, you will further support your students in applying the wisdom of the ancient scriptures to their practice and to their lives off the mat. Furthermore, if you teach your Yoga classes in a disciplined manner, with a higher goal in mind, your students will pick up on how you approach your own professional role as their teacher, and they will quite naturally apply the same dedication to their own practice.

Teaching Yoga: Physical Advantages - 0 views

  •
By Sanjeev Patel It is often sad that the ancient Yogis would be saddened by the fitness-based styles we see today. It is also contended that Indians do not practice physical forms of Yoga. My answer (question) to that is: Have you ever been to India? I can appreciate the attention Yogic philosophy and methodology are getting, but there are many different forms of Yoga that are practiced in India. I contend that the ancient Yogis would be pleased about the number of practitioners who gain physical benefits today. If you desire to become a Yoga instructor, you should feel free to embrace the physical benefits and explain them to your students.

Creating Healthy Habits with Yoga: Regularity - 0 views

  •
By: Virginia Iversen, M.Ed Creating healthy habits can be difficult for many of us. Establishing a regular time to practice Yoga is one of the primary keys to benefiting fully from this ancient system of physical postures, pranayama exercises and meditation techniques. For instance, engaging in a thirty-minute practice several times a week, or even daily, will benefit you much more fully than a longer Yoga practice of two hours or more, once in a blue moon. When I was first starting to practice Yoga on a consistent basis, I didn't believe that this was true! I would wonder to myself why a practice that is 2 to 3 hours in length, once a week, would not benefit me more fully than a 30-minute practice on a daily basis?

Guys Really Do Need Yoga - 0 views

  •
By Don Steensma When you mention yoga to most guys they think of women from the 1970s in purple leotards and pink leg warmers doing some passive form of stretching. Or maybe they think about some far-out guy chanting. Those images probably do not appeal to most guys. When I mention that I teach yoga to male acquaintances, many give me a funny look and shrug. They don't know the yoga secret.

Anyone Can Benefit From Yoga - 0 views

  •
Yoga is one of the few ways to do so because yoga utilizes a body's own weight and not artificially added weight which may be dangerous or injury causing for children exercising. By providing a physical release, yoga is proven to reduce mental stress. This can result in fewer tantrums and a better night sleep for your young ones.
