Yoga to Improve Your Eyesight - Alternative Methods - 0 views

  •
By Kimaya Singh Can yoga improve your eyesight? It may be surprising, but with persistence and patience, eyesight can be drastically improved through the therapeutic use of yoga. Steadily, more and more yoga practitioners are using yoga to improve eyesight. Around the world, myopia, or nearsightedness, and hyperopia, farsightedness, have become epidemics in the past years, as well as other eye problems. Over 70 million Americans suffer from myopia alone, or about 25% of adult Americans. One of the main keys to improving eyesight with yoga is to have a relaxed state of mind. Relaxation, eye cleansing, simple eye exercises and meditation can all improve vision and treat eyesight defects drastically. One thing that is also necessary is to abandon all the preconceived notions about how eyesight works. Much of how of this process works is not only in the eyes, but in the brain. Many people also tend to abuse their eyes by straining, squinting and overuse of the television and computers. Focusing on anything for too long is dangerous to the eyesight.

Yoga Teacher Training: About Yoga and the Eyes - 0 views

  •
By Sangeetha Saran When we talk about Yoga, we seldom mention the eyes and the major role they play in our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Located in the sixth chakra - the area associated with the pineal gland and intuition - the eyes work with the brain to control the central nervous system.

Yoga Teacher Ethics And Guidelines - Aura Wellness Center - Yoga Instructor Certification - 0 views

  •
By Faye Martins There have been times when it has been stated that yoga teacher ethics were just a matter of common sense. Teachers have seen the looks in an intern's eyes, when the lecture starts. The intern's eyes tell me that he/she is thinking, "What's the big deal?" with respect to teacher ethics.

If you think about meditation, what comes into your mind? Do you imagine sitting down cross legged on the floor, palms up, and eyes closed? Add some lighted candles in the scene and it would look like a voodoo thing to me.

How to Do the Yoga Pose Downward Dog, Aka Adho Mukha Svanasana, For Beginners - Yoga I... - 0 views

  •
There are some contraindications to doing Downward Dog. If you have a wrist, shoulder elbow or neck injury it is better to modify it or skip the pose if you don't know how to modify. During a head cold, sinus or ear infection, eye problem or after recent dental work it's advisable to avoid the full pose because it puts your head upside down and increases swelling and inflammation and may decrease healing time.

Understanding a Good Yoga Class - Yoga Practice Blog - 0 views

  •
By Sanjeev Patel If you already have a yoga teacher certification, you probably think you know what new students are looking for in your classes. Most instructors have been teaching so long that they forget what it felt like to be a beginner. A new student has his or her senses wide open when visiting your studio. The finger prints on your mirror, the smell of your studio, and your appearance, are all new to first time students. How can you know what students really want, when each one has different expectations? First of all, you can't make everyone happy, but you can make most of them happy by making the best possible impression and looking at your class with a fresh pair 0f eyes, like you once had, long before you decided to become a yoga instructor.

Yoga Teacher Training: Aging - Yoga Teacher Training Blog - 0 views

  •
By Jenny Park How many of your students participate in yoga training in order to age gracefully? The first I became aware of this was during yoga instructor training, when students older than my mom looked about 10 years older than me. In the public eye, anyone can pick a celebrity that they admire who seems as if they must have found the Fountain of Youth. I can guarantee that nine times out of ten, that celebrity practices yoga or pays huge bills for cosmetic surgery.

Yoga Teacher Training: Kids - Yoga Teacher Training Blog - 0 views

  •
By Faye Martins Yoga teacher training courses enhance an interns ability to connect with children on many levels. Teaching yoga to children is very rewarding, but there will be challenges in your classes. Perhaps if adults had the energy, optimism and honesty of children, the world would be a different place. Looking at the world through the eyes of a child means taking things one moment at a time, stopping to appreciate seemingly insignificant moments and attractions, and releasing your emotions as you feel them. Essentially, children are living some of the most fundamental of yogic principles: mindfulness, gratitude and inner peace. It makes sense, then, to teach children yoga postures and breathing while they are young and eager to accept healthy, lifelong concepts.

What Should a Yoga Teacher Know About Meditation? - Yoga Teacher Training Blog - 0 views

  •
By Sanjeev Patel Meditation is the process of calming and focusing the mind. It can effectively relieve anxiety, stress, or depression. Many people use it every day to calm and refresh the mind. There are many positions to take upon meditation, but we often think of the image of a person sitting with his or her legs crossed, hands resting on the knees, and eyes closed.

Even poor posture, allergies and eye strain can cause tension headaches in millions of people every day. In various yoga forums, new members often complain about headaches after their first yoga session. Does this complaint warrant further investigation into yoga as a potential cause of headaches?

Why Are Yoga Props Important? - Yoga Practice Blog - 0 views

  •
By Shahid Mishra There was a time, when I was young, that I thought yoga props were for people who were in need of them. As a young Yoga teacher, I was indeed arrogant and my Guru asked me to work at the back of the class assisting, until I learned patience. Frustration filled me, but I remained with my Guru, Paulji for many years. He pointed my eyes toward the type of student who has improved his or her quality of life because props helped with mobility, disease, skeletal alignment, or gave this person self-confidence. I became a believer and now I see yoga props can help anyone.
