Plug-in To View Your HTML Live on a Mobile Device - 2 views

  •
Adobe makes a plug-in that allows you to see on your mobile device exactly what you're working on (as long as it's on a server - like the dev server). I've found it very handy when working on something and wondering how it will look on the iPad. The plug-in works for a myriad of devices including droid stuff. You have to use it in Google Chrome and be signed in, but it's well worth the effort. Those of you with smart phones could load the plug-in on the smart phone and iPad at the same time.

Alto from AOL - 0 views

  •
AOL "creates an experience" where you can gather all of your e-mail addresses in one place. And you DON'T even need an AOL e-mail address to use it. Interesting..... I'm giving Alto a test drive with a few e-mail accounts.

The Royal Marines / Royal Navy Website - 2 views

  •
We are not the demographic of this site. So, even if the topic doesn't appeal to all of us, the success of the site is well documented. Since the site's creation, the Royal Marines and Royal Navy have seen huge increases in qualified candidates and in meeting their recruitment goals. The case study of this site dealt with two main issues brought from the Client: 1) LOTS OF INFORMATION: One of the major successes of this site is that the target audience said they felt they were given all the information they needed to make their decision on joining the Royal Marines. 2) INTERACTIVITY: The site is PACKED with interactive elements: tests, maps, checklists, etc. ALSO OF NOTE: Gotta love the "English manner" in the way they tell you about cookies from their site (at the top of the homepage when you first arrive at the site). Click on "More About Cookies" and see how much info they provided.

The Design Museum Collection - 1 views

  •
You have to view this in iTunes or a mobile device. It's an interesting collection of iconic images/designs that this museum feel are classic in the sense of their longevity. The include a short video with each entry and talk a bit about their selection. They even include the Kalashnikov rifle as on of their iconic designs.

Mercury Browser - 1 views

This is a pretty neat browser for tablets. Lots of customization features and more intuitive than Safari. It's definitely worth a download. They have a free version and a "Pro" $0.99 version. I've used the free version. The pay version has a few extra features that are really not necessary to use a browser; they're really "bloatware" features.

Vischeck Website - Working with Color-Blindness - 2 views

  •
A handy site on which you can view your own files in relation to the various types of color blindness. In my experience with the site, the option to view your images online is better than the option to download the plug-ins. The plug-ins kept crashing for me. But your experience may be different.

"Readability" - A Reader Application - 1 views

Readability is a reader application that saves and organizes links to articles for reading later online or offline. It requires a download for your mobile device and the creation of an account (linked to your e-mail).

Readability is worth noticing because it is a free application/service that is beginning to rival the similar paid application/service - Instapaper.

Reading offline is a highlight of Readability's functions. Downloads of the articles are saved on your mobile device. Readability's readability can be enhanced via a number of visual display options that accessed once you click on an article. Column width, font family, font color and background color are among the choices you can make.

One negative for Readability is that you have to re-download ALL of your articles whenever you want to add a new article to your offline collection for reading later. This can be time consuming. The folks at Readability should have a "download latest selections" option, instead.

It's worth a look if you like reading web articles offline.
