Learning English Through Idioms - 1 views

  •
I have found this website very useful and interesting. It give us some examples of how to introduce idioms and saying to children in our lessons. Have you ever heard "the curiosity killed the cat?" Well, in this case curiosity can help you to learn, so don´t be a "couch potato" and "get cracking!" Look for some good idioms to teach. I personally think that learning English through idioms it is a funny way to get familiar with real English.

Storytelling - 1 views

Hello everyone! As you remember from the last lesson, storytelling is a great resource for teahcer. So, I would like to share with you this list of stories recorded in audio. http://www.storyteller.net/stories/audio They are so useful to practice listening or also to use them in a primary class. Enjoy them
  •
Hi! I really like this page and I find it quite interesting because It´s a wonderful resource for teaching English. There are lots of stories which you can use to motivate students and these stories have been specially written for children learning English. Teachers often do this because live storytelling is a spontaneous creative process which fires the imagination and the listener experiences and participates in the story creatively. So, it is very important giving feedback: the teacher being observed can be very sensitive and defensive about their class, especially if they feel it didn't go as planned so any criticisms or suggestions for improvement must be delivered in a very constructive way. On the other hand, tell a story is a very personal way and you can adapt the story any way you want to fit the English ability or maturity level of your class. Furthermore, we should taking into account the following points while telling stories to our students: create a storytelling atmosphere, interact with the students, create a visual, ask for student volunteers, help your students help themselves, interact with the students while telling the story, use clear language, simple but natural language, use linguistic and extralinguistic redundancy (paraphrase, repetitions, examples, definitions, gestures, sounds, illustration, etc.), express emotions, tell the story with feeling, use different voices (narrator, characters…) use support materials, etc. Finally, I have found other page that I would like to share it. www.storyteller.net/315 Thank you for sharing it! :)

Use of English in other areas - 0 views

This web has been created by a teacher from the Kindergarten Boissière in Paris to share a lot of helpful resources in English with parents, children and other teachers. For example, in this activity (http://webkindergarten.net/visual_arts_and_crafts/techniques/recycled_paper.htm) we can see interdisciplinary use of English in a bilingual Knowledge of the environment's class. I like this activity because explains the process to make recycled paper step by step in a very clear and simple way.

Hello everyone! I think it is useful to share this website. It is called "Linguee". Linguee is more than a dictionary. The Linguee search results are divided into two sections: on the left hand side we can see the translation of the words and on the right hand side; we can find example sentences from other sources to provide us with an impression of how our search expression has been translated IN CONTEXT.
